Day 1
Sigiriya
Day1 Airport - Pinnawala - Dambulla (Sigiriya ) Approx: 5 1/2hours Enroute to your destination, you can visit one of the most important tourist attraction in Sri Lanka, the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Volunteers and caretakers provide shelter and take care of orphaned, abandoned and injured elephants within the park. You can watch caretakers feed, bathe and help these gentle giants. You want walk with the herd to the nearby river to watch the elephants bathe and play around in water. Your next destination will be the Dambulla Cave Temples. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple compound in Sri Lanka. These 80 or more caves tell of the inhabitants dating back to the 3rd Century BCE. Five main caves hold the holy Buddhist shrines. The stupa was built in the 5th century AD and the caves contain precious paintings and innumerable Buddha sculptures. Among the paintings, two of the most magnificent depict the temptation of the Buddha by the demon Mara and the First Sermon of the Buddha.

Day2 Dambulla - Kandy Approx: 2 hours Your city tour will commence with the visit to one of the wonders of the ancient world -the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It is also a UNESCO world Heritage site. Sigiriya Rock was once an ancient Castle used both as a palace and a fortress and was created by the great King Kasyapa. Trincomalee is a port city on the east coast of Sri Lanka. The city is built on a peninsula, which divides the inner and outer harbours. It is one of the main centers of Tamil speaking culture on the island. The Bay of Trincomalee's harbour is renowned for its large size and security; unlike every other in the Indian Sea, it is accessible to all types of craft in all weathers. The beaches are used for surfing, scuba diving, fishing and whale watching. City tour: You will be able to visit the famous Konesvaram temple which attracts many pilgrims from all parts of India. It is also known as the Temple of a Thousand Columns. There are several Buddhist historical sites around the Trincomalee. These include the famous Seruwila Mangala Raja Maha Vihara (Seruwila Temple) which is under consideration to be declared a UNESCO world heritage site dating back to 2nd century B.C. the Sri Gajaba Len Vihara (Sri Gajaba Cave Temple), Tiriyay temple and the Welgam temple. The entrance to the roadway leading to Koneswaram is actually the entrance to what used to be Fort Fredrick. The fort was built in 1623 by the Portuguese.The city has the largest Dutch fort in Sri Lanka.

While on your city tour you will visit one of the world heritages as well as a sacred place for the Buddhists all over the world; namely the Temple of tooth Relic known to the Sri Lankans as ?Dalada Maligawa?
The lake was created by the last king of the Kandyan Empire and is artificial. It is also the focal point of the city. In the local lingo it is called Kiri Muhuda and has an island in the center as well. The end close to the temple of the tooth is very busy, but the far end is quiet and lovely for a walk in the evening. You can also get boats at the jetty and enjoy a boat ride. It is forbidden to swim in the lake as it is considered sacred. It is also a great place to view the Perahera from. Guest Can Join Open Door Ceremony In Dalada Maligawa in the morning.

Welcome to your 'Sri Lanka - Ramayana Trail' tour! On arrival at the airport in Colombo, you will meet MMT representative and proceed on a picturesque drive to Sigiriya, en route visit Munneswaram temple and Manavari Temple. Munneswaram temple is an important regional Hindu temple complex in Sri Lanka. Lord Rama after his victorious battle left for Ayodhya in one of King Ravana's vimana. Thereafter, visit Manavari Temple. Manavari is the first lingam installed and prayed by Lord Rama and till date this lingam is called as Ramalinga Shivan. Rameshwaram is the only other lingam in the world named after Lord Rama.On arrival in Sigiriya, check-in to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.Overnight Stay in Sigiriya.

Kandy
After breakfast, visit Trincomalee and Koneswaram Temple.Trincomalee has sunny weather throughout the year, with white sandy beaches, calm, placid and warm waters, ideal for underwater activities and for Whale watching. Nilaveli-10 miles away are the finest beach in Trincomalee starting at Uppuveli- 5 miles away extending all the way to Nilaveli. Pigeon Island is a great place for Diving, Snorkeling and sea bathing. There are 7 Hot Spring at Kanniyai just 5 miles away on the Anuradhapura road. Thiriyai Vata-da-ge is 30 miles to the North of Trincomalee and is one of the best monuments in Sri Lanka. Later, visit Koneshwara Temple followed by the drive to Kandy.Overnight Stay in Kandy.

After breakfast, proceed for an excursion to Mahiyangana. Visit Dunuwala and Laggala - Dunuwala (the site where Ravana died) and Laggala (where Ravana prayed to Lord Shankara). Next, visit Yahangala- the place where King Ravana's body was displayed after his death to allow his countrymen to offer their last respect.Then, proceed to visit Weragantota, the capital city of King Ravana and known as the landing place of a flying chariot. It is believed to be the first place, where Sita was brought into Sri Lanka in King Ravana's Vimana.Also visit Sita Kotuwa. Sita was kept at Queen Mandodari's Palace and later moved first to Sita Kotuwa ('Sita's Fort') and finally to Ashoka Vatika. The ruins found here are the remnants of latercivilizations.Lastly, visit Gurulupotha Lankapura, which was the repair centre of the flying Chariot. Later, return back to the hotel. In the Evening, visit the temple of the Tooth. It is a Buddhist temple located within the palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy. It houses the sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha. Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, proceed towards Nuwara Eliya, en route visit Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple, Ramboda.Later, visit Shri Gayathri Peedam Temple. It is believed to be the place from where King Ravana's son Meghanath, propitiated Lord Shiva with penance and poojas and in turn was granted super natural powers by lord Shiva.

Today morning after breakfast, proceed on a city tour of Colombo. Visit Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple, a temple dedicated to Anjaneyar in Sri Lanka. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmith's quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where there is a Hindu temple with elaborate stone carvings, and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. The historic Dawatagaha Mosque and the former Eye Hospital are two buildings in Cinnamon Gardens worth looking at. Day 1
Day1 Arrival at Colombo - Sigiriya
Reach the airport and on your way to Sigiriya, visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. When you reach Dambulla, check-in at your hotel.
Dambulla is one of the ancient cities of Sri Lanka. The city also boasts to have the largest rose quartz mountain range in South Asia, and the Iron wood forest.
Ibbankatuwa prehistoric burial site near Dambulla cave temple complexes is the latest archaeological site found in Dambulla.
Dambulla along with nearby Sigiriya and Habarana form a cluster of tourist area within it.
Day 2
Day2 Sigiriya - Kandy
Your Sightseeing will commence with the visit to one of the wonders of the ancient world -the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It is also a UNESCO world Heritage site. SigiriyaRock was once an ancient Castle used both as a palace and a fortress and was created by the great King Kasyapa. The magnificent rock fortress of Sigiriya is visible for miles from all directions and dominates the surrounding plain. The Sigiriya Complex consists of the central rock, which arises abruptly 200 meters above the surrounding plain with the two rectangular precincts on the east and the west. The rock is surrounded by two wide moats, where crocodiles were introduced in ancient times and three ramparts. The moats and walls that surround the lower palace are still exquisitely beautiful.

Day3 Kandy - Galle
Enroute to your destination, you can visit one of the most important tourist attraction in Sri Lanka, the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Volunteers and caretakers provide shelter and take care of orphaned, abandoned and injured elephants within the park. You can watch caretakers feed, bathe and help these gentle giants. You want walk with the herd to the nearby river to watch the elephants bathe and play around in water

Day4 Galle Excursion to Mirissa

Day5 Galle - Bentota
On your city tour you will enjoy a boat ride along the Madhu River. It is a scenic tour relaxing and interesting while passing many islets forested with mangroves and experience the natural rhythms as well. If you are looking for more exclusive experience visit the turtle hatchery too. The Turtle Hatchery is the prime turtle nesting site which was open by the Wild life Protection Society in 1981.
Visitors can see huge tanks filled with new born turtle hatchlings. After being fed, the baby turtles are taken to the sea and released when they are 2-4 days old, usually during the safer hours of darkness.)

Day 1
Airport - Negombo (20 Kms/ 30 Min)
City Tour: During the city tour you will explore the old Dutch fort gate built in 1672 now part of the prison, the Dutch Canal which was then a supply route to the Dutch administration, old churches and fishing villages. The 100km long canal running through the town is still being used and is an attraction for those who want to see the country from a different perspective. The stretch of road towards Kotchchikade comes to life at dusk (most shops are open at daytime too) with many handicrafts and curio shops, gem shops, restaurants and internet cafes catering for tourists.
Day 2
Negombo - Anuradhapura (200 Km/4 hrs)
City tour: You will be able to explore the tallest brick built stupas of the ancient world. Ruwanweli saya, Abhayagiri and Jetawana Dagabas constituted the central edifices of the monasteries - Mahavihara, Abayagiri Vihara and Jetavanarama respectively. Sri Mahabodhi - the sacred tree shrine of the Mahaviharaya, planted in the 3rd Century BC still retains its vitality and receives veneration of the Buddhist world all year around. Visit the Thuparama Dagaba, the historical Stupa built by King Devanampiyatissa. It has been converted in to a circular Chaitya Shrine ( Vatadage). Visit the Twin Ponds and the Isurumuniya. Day 3
Anuradhapura - Sigiriya (80 Kms/2 hrs)
City tour: Your city tour will commence with a visit to one of the wonders of the ancient world - the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Sigiriya Rock was once an ancient castle used both as a palace and a fortress and was created by the great King Kasyapa. The magnificent rock fortress of Sigiriya is visible for miles from all directions and dominates the surrounding plain. The Sigiriya Complex consists of the central rock, which arises abruptly 200 meters above the surrounding plain with the two rectangular precincts on the east and the west. The rock is surrounded by two wide moats, where crocodiles were introduced in ancient times and three ramparts. The moats and walls that surround the lower palace are still exquisitely beautiful.
Your next destination will be the Dambulla Cave Temples. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple compound in Sri Lanka. There are above 80 chronicle caves around this location. The most prominent allures are advanced over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are depicted to Lord Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings and 4 statues of gods and goddesses. (Entrance fees to sites not included). Day 4
Passikudha - Sigiriya (91 Kms/2.5 Hrs)
City Tour: While on your city tour you will visit one of the world heritages as well as a sacred place for the Buddhists all over the world; namely the Temple of tooth Relic known to the Sri Lankans as Dalada Maligawa.
Your next visit will be to the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens which is a paradise for nature lovers. This beautiful flower Eden is restored with over 300 different varieties of orchids, other spices, medicinal plants and Palm trees. Nuwara Eliya - Yala (200 kms/5 hrs)
Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. With monkeys crashing through the trees, peacocks in their finest frocks, elephants ambling about and cunning leopards sliding like shadows through the undergrowth, Yala National Park (also known as Ruhunu) is the Jungle Book brought to glorious life. This vast region of dry woodland and open patches of grasslands is the big draw of this corner of Sri Lanka. A safari here is well worth all the time, effort, crowds and cost.
Day 7
Yala - Galle (195 Kms /4.5 Hr)
City tour: During your city tour, you will visit the Galle Dutch Fort which is among the most popular sites in Galle which attracts those who value archaeological reserves and heritage. It is considered as the oldest fort in Asia, named as a world heritage by UNESCO.
Inside the fort, travelers can find other attractions such as the Dutch Museum, which contains paintings, pictures and furniture of the Dutch Reformed Church. The fort is built on small peninsula that can be easily accessed from the Galle town. It is the best place to visit during evening as the picturesque scenery of the sunset can be witnessed at its best. The trilingual inscription is in the National Museum in Colombo and a copy can be found in the Maritime Museum in Galle.
Day 8
Galle - Bentota (80 Kms/ 1 Hr)
City tour: On your city tour, you will enjoy a boat ride along the Madhu River. It is a scenic tour, relaxing and interesting while passing many islets forested with mangroves and experience the natural rhythms as well. If you are looking for more exclusive experience, visit the turtle hatchery too. The Turtle Hatchery is the prime turtle nesting site which was open by the Wild life Protection Society in 1981.
Visitors can see huge tanks filled with new born turtle hatchlings. After being fed, the baby turtles are taken to the sea and released when they are 2-4 days old, usually during the safer hours of darkness. (Entrance fees to sites not included)
