Radhanagar Beach

Radhanagar Beach, with its white sand and clear blue water, was declared as one of the 10 best beaches in Asia by Conde Nast Traveller.

Situated on the south coast of Havelock and lined with lush coconut palms, Radhanagar beach is one of the most popular beaches of Andaman due to its pristine white sand and crystal clear waters. While here, one could either relax on the silky sand flanking the turquoise blue water or indulge watersports activities like snorkeling and scuba diving. The beach has various cafes where you can relish from local to global cuisines. With its mesmerizing sunsets and sunrises, this beach is a must visit for all beach lovers.

Mount Harriet

Mount Harriet is a National Park in Port Blair. The park on a mountain is known for its collection and conservation of species of flora and fauna. From the mountain peak one can witness a breath-taking view of Port Blair and the nearby Havelock Island.

Known for its wide variety of flora and fauna, Mount Harriet National Park is the place where one could experience nature at its best. It was named after Harriet Tytler, the wife a British army officer, Robert Christopher Tytler, who was a nature lover and a photographer. Enveloped by evergreen forests, the park has a lot of mountains and rocky beaches with small patches of sand. The small streams flowing from the hills further add to its ethereal beauty. It has many spots for adventure lovers like natural trek trails and pathways which makes hiking and trekking major activities here. There is also a Forest Guest House where tourists can rest and refresh themselves.

North Bay

North Bay Beach is one of the most popular attractions in Port Blair. It is famous for its underwater treasures of vibrant corals, colourful fishes, and a variety of beautiful plant species. This makes the beach a perfect location for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Famously known as the Coral Island, North Bay Island is one of the most beautiful islands in Port Blair. Apart from its lovely landscape, it has a wide variety of coral reefs and vibrant underwater species which allures tourists to visit this island. You can do various water sports like snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, jet skiing, and sea walking. There is also a lighthouse on the beach which offers stunning views of the island. The island is closed for visitors on Wednesdays.

Elephant Beach

Elephant beach is a stunning beach on Havelock Island. The pristine sandy shore with calm blue waters make it a postcard perfect beach and one of the top places to visit in Havelock.

Famous for its rich coral structure and spectacular marine life, Elephant beach is a serene attraction with tranquil surroundings, pristine water, and a sparkling sandy shore. One could choose to stroll around or explore the underwater world through various watersports activities. Since the beach is famous for its beautiful coral reefs, snorkelling and sea walking are popular among tourists. Kayaking is another water activity that one could enjoy. Around the beach, there are many restaurants that serve delicious seafood.

Cellular Jail

The Cellular Jail, also known as ‘Kala Pani Jail’ is located in Port Blair and was constructed as a prison by the British to house exiled political prisoners. The historic structure today is converted into a National Memorial Monument. The Light and Sound show held here daily is a popular Port Blair attraction.

Built in 1906, the Cellular Jail was a remote prison used by the British to exile Indian political prisoners. Now open as a National Memorial for the public, it features exhibits displaying the grave torture that prisoners used to go through. Also referred to as “Kala Pani Jail”, the place gives visitors a peek into the country’s history. The ground floor features a Freedom Fighters Photo and Exhibition Gallery, whereas the first floor has an Art gallery and Netaji gallery. The jail is also known for its Light and Sound Show on India's freedom struggle. Do note that the museum remains closed for visitors on Mondays.

Ross Island

Also known as Subhash Chandra Bose Island, Ross Island is a barren island which was once the administrative headquarters of the British. It offers a beautiful view of the ocean and a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. For sightseeing, there are many historical ruins on the island.

Located 2 km away from Port Blair, Ross Island is famous for its scenic beauty and ruins of British era buildings. It was once the administrative headquarters of the British, which was later shifted to Port Blair due to an earthquake that occurred here in 1941. While taking a tour of the island, tourists could see ruins of a church, old houses, stores, etc. One could also spot deer and peacocks on the island. Other prime attractions include the British Chief Commissioner's Bungalow and the Japanese Bunker. The island also has a bakery where one could stop by to have some snacks and beverages. The island remains closed for visitors on Wednesday.

Chidiya Tapu

A bird watcher’s haven and a great sunset viewpoint, Chidiya Tapu is one of the most popular attractions of Andaman Islands. It is surrounded by lush forests and verdant mangroves and offers a variety of exotic and native species of birds like parakeets, sea eagles, emerald doves etc.

Located 25km away from Port Blair, Chidiya Tapu is a bird watcher's haven. The island is famous for its rich variety of native and migratory birds including drongos, scarlet minivet, hanging parrot, long-tailed and red-breasted parakeets, emerald dove, white-bellied sea eagles and grey-fronted and green pigeon etc. Owing to the presence of numerous beaches and multi-colored corals, it is quite famous for activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, and deep-sea walking. The major attractions that are popular among tourists include the Chidiya Tapu Biological Park, Chidiya Tapu Beach and the Munda Pahar beaches. Also, the Sunset Point of the island is a must-visit as it offers fascinating views of sunset and sunrise which is sure to leave one amazed.

Kalapani Museum

The Kalapani Museum in Port Blair is a relatively new addition to the list of places to visit in Andaman. It is a serene place that tells the visitor a lot about the history of the Andaman islands, Andaman tribes, and more.

The Kalapani Museum is a three-storied history museum where history comes alive. The museum houses a collection of paintings and artifacts of tribes, rare archival photographs, documentaries and films related to the island, rare original documents from Colonial and Japanese periods, etc. Through miniature and life-size models, the visitors can get an insight into the history of the Andaman Islands.

Samudrika Marine Museum

The Samudrika Naval Marine Museum teaches visitors, especially children, a lot about the marine life in the Andaman and Nicobar islands. If you are travelling with family, you should include this Museum in your Andaman trip.

Run by the Indian Navy, Samudrika Marine Museum in Port Blair provides an insight into marine life around the islands. It serves as a repository of a vast variety of flora and fauna found in the pristine waters of the Andaman Sea. Apart from housing a varied collection of shells, corals and various species of colorful fishes, the museum also provides a sneak peek into the islands’ ecosystems and tribal communities. A Curio shop is present on the campus for visitors to buy souvenirs like handicraft items, bamboo crafts, shell products, etc. The museum remains closed on Mondays and National Holidays.

Baratang

Baratang Island represents the ancient wilderness of the Andaman Islands with its mangrove creeks, mud volcanoes and limestone caves. The enchanting beauty of this spot is what makes it one of the most unique places to visit in Andaman.

Baratang is a lesser-known gem filled with raw beauty, mud volcanoes, thick mangrove forests and natural wonders. An exciting boat ride through the mangroves here should be followed up by a visit to the limestone caves in the vicinity. It may get slippery inside, so it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes. The journey from Port Blair to Baratang involves some scenic forested drives as well as a ferry crossing. Baratang can be visited from Port Blair in a full day excursion, but do remember that you would have to depart very early in the morning for this.
