A: Gujarat being a huge state needs a minimum of 8-10 days in order to be explored fully. One should definitely make it a point to visit Gujarat during the Rann of Kutch festival. An ideal 6-day itinerary to Gujarat would look as follows:

1.  Day 01 – Arrival in Ahmedabad and proceed for a half day city tour.

2. Day 02 – Drive to Dwarka with a stop-over in Jamnagar.

3.  Day 03 – Spend a whole day visiting the various temples in Dwarka.

4.  Day 04 – Drive to Somnath with a stopover at Porbandar. Visit the Somnath Jyotirlinga temple.

5.  Day 05 – Drive to Gir National Park to explore the wilderness and see the famous Asiatic lions.

6.  Day 06 – Return to Ahmedabad for the journey back home!

The ideal time to visit Gujarat is in the winter months from October to February. This is also a good time as it coincides with the Rann Utsav Festival in the state. Visiting Gujarat in the monsoons from July to September is also a good idea as there are some regions that receive very less or no rainfall at all.
