A Disappointing Stay at The Emerald Grand Dehradun - Not a 4-Star Experience
My recent stay at The Emerald Grand Dehradun left much to be desired, falling significantly short of the 4-star experience it purports to offer. While the food was undeniably good, many other aspects of the property were frankly quite disappointing.
The most glaring issues were around the swimming pool area. There were no pool towels available, forcing guests to carry towels from their rooms – a clear inconvenience. The changing rooms and toilets near the pool were in a deplorable state, characterized by a strong, unpleasant odor, broken flushes, and a complete lack of water in the showers. This made using the pool facilities a rather unpleasant ordeal.
Inside the rooms, basic amenities were surprisingly missing. In both rooms I booked, hand towels were absent and had to be specifically requested via call, which is a detail one shouldn't have to chase in a supposed 4-star establishment. The rooms themselves felt dirty, likely exacerbated by the tiled flooring without any carpets or matting to absorb dust or offer a sense of cleanliness. Furthermore, the room lockets were not operational, raising security concerns.
Adding to the list of non-functional facilities, the gym was not operational during my stay. I was informed it would only be opened upon request, which again points to a lack of readiness and proactive guest service.
On a positive note, the food served at the property was definitely a highlight. The quality and taste were commendable, providing a much-needed silver lining to an otherwise lackluster experience.
Overall, considering the numerous deficiencies in amenities, cleanliness, and functionality, The Emerald Grand Dehradun, despite its claims, certainly does not live up to the standards of a 4-star property. Improvements are desperately needed across various departments to meet guest expectations and justify its rating.
