We had travel-led in october 2023 as a group of 12 friends and colleagues. The villa is huge and very spacious with good tasteful furniture in all the rooms. Outdoor spaces including the swimming pool are good and well maintained. The caretaker mr. Narendra stays at the property (separate rooms at the back side of the villa) with his family. Him and his wife are very helpful and co-operative, and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. Now comes the main issue - we were given a check-in time of 2 pm. But even when we arrived at the villa at 3:30 pm, the villa was not cleaned and ready for us. Mr. Narendra told us that the previous guests checked out late (no fault of his. We were understanding of the situation and agreed to sit outside in the patio area till the villa got cleaned (even though some of the people in our group wanted to freshen up and rest for some time, which they were unable to do. Then came the worst part - because we were sitting outside in the open area from 3:30 pm, we did not realise that the electricity had gone off and came to know about it when it started getting darker. When we asked the caretaker about it (at approx. 5:30 pm, he told us that the diesel in the generator is over, and that someone was on their way to the villa with it. Again, we didn't think much about it as there was still some time to go before it actually got dark and did not even imagine that there would be no diesel for the generator by then. We decided to continue sitting out as it had gotten dark inside the villa. As it started getting later and darker, some people from our group started getting restless as they hadn't even had a chance to freshen up yet although it was past 7 pm (on a 2 pm check-in. This was when we finally started getting frustrated and questioning the caretaker when the electricity would be back, for which the standard reply was "diesel is on its way! also spoke over the phone with someone called mr. Kanav sood who is the regional manager or something for stay-vista villas in lonavla, who continued giving the same reply that there is traffic in lonavala and that the diesel is on its way. He even had the audacity to ask me to wait for half an hour more at 8 pm! the ordeal was far from over, but anyway to cut a long story short, the electricity was back around 8:30 pm, after which we could finally check-in. (the diesel had not yet arrived by the way) we asked the manager to provide us some sort of compensation for the time we wasted as it was only a 1 night stay, and we had to check-out at 11 am the next day. After a lot of talks and discussions, he said that the most he can do is provide us complementary breakfast the next morning. What we actually got is some pohe prepared by mr. Narendra's wife as breakfast, for which he demanded money from me for the raw materials. On asking about the promised complementary breakfast, he said that he was not informed about any such thing by mr. Kanav or anyone else and that he had bought the ingredients from his own money! we have always had a good experience at stay-vista villas before this, but this time it was more than disappointing! stay-vista seriously needs to introspect about their policies and not get complacent about the service they provide (even after charging a hefty premium for it, else it won't take a long time to lose the trust of the people!
