I stayed at Jagat Niwas Palace expecting a charming heritage experience, but the reality was far from pleasant.
Room & View:
There are no private balconies. The photos you see are mostly taken from the common corridor right outside your room — a space where people keep passing by. You can technically sit there, but it’s awkward and far from relaxing or private.
Inside the room, it’s shockingly basic. There is no chair, no table, not even a proper bed frame — just a mattress on a marble slab. The room is so compact that there’s barely any space to move around the bed. It felt like a decorative space, not a functional one for staying comfortably.
In-Room Dining – Practically Non-Existent:
There is no proper in-room dining setup. No menu in the room. When you call reception, they say “you can come to the restaurant for full options,” and only offer a very limited selection for in-room dining.
Even then, the service is careless — they took my order and delivered only half of it, missing items without apology. The worst part? Since there’s no table or chair in the room, you’re expected to eat your meal in the shared public corridor outside, which was extremely uncomfortable and honestly, felt bizarre. This is the first time I’ve seen something like this in any hotel across any state.
Restaurant Experience:
The rooftop restaurant looks nice in pictures but the view is just average, nothing worth the hype. I ordered a cocktail and some starters. The cocktail came, but they forgot the dips with the starters. By the time the dips arrived (after reminders), the food and drink were already over. Again, disappointing service.
Location Access:
You can’t reach the hotel by cab. The streets are too narrow, so you have to either walk or take an auto to reach the property. Not ideal if you have luggage or are traveling with family.
