Best Budget Romantic Stay Near Lake Pichola
We stayed at Hotel Devraj Nivas in Lal Ghat, Udaipur, and absolutely loved the experience. The location is perfect – just a short walk from Lake Pichola, City Palace, Jagdish Temple, and Gangaur Ghat, making it ideal for exploring the city. The hotel stay was amazing. Manager Vikram ji welcomed us with a warm smile, and the entire staff was polite and respectful throughout our visit. We were given an early check-in with a balcony city view, which was really convenient for my wife and also gave us a nice feel of Udaipur’s city vibes. An interesting fact – this is the same hotel where parts of the Bollywood movie Dhadak (starring Ishaan Khattar and Janhvi Kapoor) were shot. The rooftop restaurant, Natural View Restaurant, is a highlight in itself, offering a complete panoramic view of Udaipur, including Jag Mandir Island, the Taj Hotel, and the stunning lakeside scenery. Although it is a 3-star property, the overall experience felt absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Udaipur.

I recently stayed at Hotel Dewraj Palace in Udaipur and had a mixed experience. The hotel offers a really nice view, which was definitely one of the highlights of my stay. The location is also quite convenient for exploring the city. However, I found the staff behavior to be inconsistent. While some staff members were polite and helpful, others seemed less attentive, which affected the overall experience. Overall, it’s a decent place if you’re mainly looking for a good view and a budget-friendly stay, but I feel there’s room for improvement in staff hospitality.

You will find better than that at cheaper rate.
The management was worst. The service was pathetic and not active at all. Room conditions were very bad. Marks on the walls of rooms and Air conditioner was not cooling.

Not Worth the Stay – Only Location is Good
I stayed with my family at Hotel Devraj Nivas, Udaipur in a Premium Lake View Room for four nights. While the location is truly the hotel’s only strong point, the overall experience was quite disappointing. What We Liked: Great Location: Situated near the lake and close to major attractions, the view and access were convenient. What Was Disappointing: Food & Breakfast: The breakfast menu was extremely limited with only 3–4 basic items, repeated every day with no variation. If an item wasn’t pre-prepared, it took over 30 minutes to be served. No Complimentary Drinking Water: Surprisingly, the hotel did not provide complimentary drinking water—not even in the restaurant. Guests are forced to buy bottled water at rates higher than the printed MRP, which is both unethical and unacceptable. Poor Pool Maintenance: The swimming pool was not well-maintained and didn’t appear clean or hygienic. Lack of Hospitality: For a hotel in such a prime location, the basic amenities and service standards were far below expectations. Verdict: Despite the location advantage, the poor service, overpriced basic necessities like water, and unappealing food make this hotel not worth recommending. I would not stay here again and suggest travelers consider alternative options with better service and value for money.
