There are probably 150 camp resorts in and around jaisalmer. We chanced upon exotic quite by accident and we are so glad we did. Hours after we booked, we wrote them an email, asking about taxi services to pick us up from the airport and then drop us back to the train station at the end of our stay. Within a few hours we got a response. We knew we were in good hands. And the price quoted was very reasonable, only rs 3, 500 for both trips, although the camp is at least 45 kilometers away. The taxi was waiting for us at the airport. When we arrived at the location, we were greeted in typical rajasthan style. Mr. Ali, the co-owner personally escorted us to our well-adorned tent and spent nearly 15 minutes explaining how we could get the best out of our stay. There were cultural programs each night in the middle of the campground with a nice fire, unlimited snacks and tea. Dinner was delicious, as was a healthy breakfast. Mr. Ali’s fleet of jeeps and cars were ready to take us into the desert for a jeep safari (parasailing, camelback riding, atv adventures) at sunset, sunrise or during the day - or into the city or the pakistan border town of longewala. The late evening star gazing experience from deep in the desert was superb. His staff was very friendly too treating us like the guests we were. The tent was very clean and comfortable. Mr. Ali insisted that we kept the geyser on all the time. This meant that we had abundant hot water even during the cold hours of the night. He offered us an oil heater which we declined. Upon reflection, we probably should have paid him extra for it. If outstanding customer service is what you want, visit exotic. You will not be disappointed given how affordable the resort is.
