Mandir Palace (Temple Palace) is situated amidst the Heritage city of Jaisalmer which is famous for its 900 year Old Fort and Havelis. The Palace has been the creation of different rulers of Jaisalmer who ruled the former State of Jaisalmer, however the most beautiful portions of the Palace were built in the reign of His Highness Maharawal Jawahir Singh Ji in the beginning of the twentieth century who then gifted the Palace to his son Maharaj Hukam Singh Ji.
Maharaj Hukam Singh Ji and his family continue to reside in this Palace which is famous for its Handmade Stone Carvings and have transformed this Palace into a premier heritage hotel. A noticeable feature of Mandir Palace is its tower also referred as the Badal Vilas, which stands out as the tallest structure below the hill-top city fort.Open spaces and courtyards give a feeling of the bygone era. A spectacular view of the Jaisalmer Fort can be seen from the Palaces Roof Top Restaurant.
The Palace being in the heart of the city gives easy access to the visitor for city sight seeing and offers all modern comforts to suit the needs of leisure and business travellers. Stay at Mandir Palace and enjoy the hospitality and grandeur of a real Palace. You can also meet the royal owners walking around in the property or request a meeting with them.

Room was nice and clean with basic amenities. The hotel is at the centre of Jaisalmer city. The roof top restaurant gives magistic view of Jaisalmer Fort.

The hotel building is architecturally superb. The rooms are quite spacious, but lacks basic amenities. The service was poor, staff is not trained well and the food was pathetic. I'd suggest to take it on only room basis, avoid adding any meals in the plan; instead there's a superb restaurant right at the hotel's gate called 'TRIO', which serves amazing food.
The heritage experience

Outstanding view . Entire palace premises reflects architectural excellence . Services were good enough . Would love to come back for another stay in this heritage property.

Location is really awesome. Fort, Patwon ki Haveli are at walking distance only. Well maintained property but food is the only bad part about the hotel. Market starts from the hotel location only. Staff is friendly !!!

Great location within walking distance of Fort, Market and Havelis. Polite staff, Good spacious rooms. Food quality was average and service was a bit sloppy. Poor choice and spread of bast for a hotel of this category.
We stayed here on the 26th Dec'16 in room 202 and 205. Two rooms occupying 4 people, including one senior citizen 75yrs+.
=For those people who are planning a stay here:-
People travel to places to have experiences, to feel the experience and live the experience.
We did not see the type of hospitality and service as expected from a 3 Star hotel.
On reaching the hotel at 11:00-11:15 we could not check in because the rooms were not ready. Something which **** me was the arrogance of the front office Manager to ask us to go on sight seeing while the rooms are cleaned and setup. I naturally did not show my displeasure since we are on a tour and experiences counts more.
Even Hyatt and Carlsons group hotels allow check ins around 11:00AM.
- Earlier while booking we looked for reservig either Rang Mahala and Gorbandh Palace as the service there is much better then this place. We could not get reservations as these two were reserved and we had to go with Mandir Palace on a 2nd suggestion by someone close. Even the travel agent was hesitant to book, but we had less options even during booking alin September.
- We were treated indifferently by their staff and the guest service was very biased. The instance happened in the late evening around 7:30-8:00 at your roof top restaurant. No servings or courtsey to ask.
- There was a cultural musical program and buffet planned for the guests. We were already full and wanted to have just some ala carte meal. But it seemed that the staff was not very encouraging and no courtesy to ask "What would you like for the dinner? " Or alteast offer a Menu card. One should not be forced to others conveniences. We were less likely to have a buffet especially after a lot of travel and sightseeing and having experienced a couple of such cultural programs earlier during our stay in Jaipur and Bikaner(we stayed in Lalgarh Palace hotel).
- Mandir Palace hotel is not for those who are having expectations of best service and warm & welcoming nature.
- Only thing good we found is rooms are excellent, property is prime, closeness to the Jaiselmer Fort. We had ala carte lunch in the afternoon here. Food was good.
- Choose your stay here wisely, especially if your are an upper middle class Indian.
To The Hotel Management:-
A background of our travel across India and world. We have travelled North, South and East of India. Stayed in best in class 3 Star and 4 Star properties.
We have stayed abroad in Europe and the US, but the outlook to service your guest and hospitality is what counts wherever your stay. We found that missing here in Mandir Palace, Jaisalmer.
Since we were already full, all we wanted was ala carte meal in dinner and some wine at your roof top restaurant overlooking the beautiful Jaisalmer fort.
Your front office manager (I don't recollect the name .. It ended with raj) suggested us to have the buffet instead. But one of your serving staff mentioned that due to the cultural musical program and buffet in the evening they could not serve ala carte meals.
Your front office manager later did try to pacify us and apologize by saying the staff is new and was unaware.
Just because your staff is new ( which I believe was a lame excuse on your front office managers view does not mean you miss out giving that best experience to your guests.
Sadly just one instance that happened today in the evening in your roof top reataurant changed my view of your hotel. More so I was with an elder citizen aged 75yrs+, who himself has travelled across countries found that service and welcoming nature missing in your managers and staff. It was insulting.
Change your outlook towards Indian guests, and be courteous and treat well your Indian guests, especially senior citizens. Teach your front office managers some soft skills and guest service skills.
Recommendations of this hotel: Strong No. I would strongly not recommend this hotel property to anyone be it from India or abroad or a Person of Indian Origin, because of the indifference in outlook of the staff and lack of courtesy and welcoming nature of the managers.
Nice stay with nice staff

Stunning place to stay, lucky us. Excellent staff. You will feel as if you are in the royal family. The general manager was very caring. Pretty gardens, museum, marvellous external carvings. Our room was very good - large and comfortable. It is situated in the centre of the city. Very convenient to shop the Jaisalmer stuff.
Best place with average food

The best thing about staying here is all rooms have different setup and look. If you plan to stay in the city, this is a good place. You can walk around the city, markets are very near, some famous restaurants are also very near. We went to the fort walking. Hotel also has a museum which you can access during day time. The hotel is kept in good condition with less modern touches. Food was average. Since we were a group we had asked the hotel authorities to arrange for dinner by the pool with some music. Hotel accepted our request with some additional charges. I would recommend you to do booking in advance else charges will be too high.

We visited in the month of October'14. Location wise, one of the nice location, exactly near by Heritage Plaza. Hotel staff and managers were so supportive and helping in nature at any time. Food and drink were delicious. Good class of tourists coming over there. And we had a wonderful experience at whole trip with family.

The hotel was conveniently located. The hotel staff was good and quick response to the request and friendly. The appearance of the hotel was very well. Surrounding was clean seams to unhygienic. The room was spacious, neat, clean and well maintained. I had been there with family for relaxation. There was vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian food. The quality of the food was good. They had provided everything as per our request. There were no activities in the hotel. Suggest to improve the surrounding.
