We reached the resort around 2:20 PM, but unfortunately, our room was not ready. An employee even told us that we were late, which felt like shifting their responsibility onto us. As per standard check-in policies, the room should be prepared by the check-in time, regardless of whether guests arrive at 2:00, 2:30, or even later. Ironically, we were only led to the room by 3:00 PM, and even then, the cleaning was still incomplete, forcing us to wait further. This was quite disappointing, especially since we had come to Varkala just for a day and ended up losing valuable time waiting. The next issue was with the pool, which was dirty and had many insects. Initially, it seemed like it wasn’t cleaned at all, but the following day I did notice the watchman cleaning it—so perhaps it was just our bad luck with the timing.
On the positive side, the room itself was good, the bathroom was clean, and the AC worked well. However, another concern was the lack of security at the backside of the resort, which seemed open for anyone to enter. Thankfully, no incident occurred during our stay.
Overall, the resort has potential and the room facilities were good, but timely room readiness, regular pool maintenance, and better security are areas where improvement would make the experience much smoother for guests.
