Poor Stay
The stay was good. The housekeeper manager is good too. But the location is very bad. The approach. Also please note the mall road and the other road is blocked from 6-8pm so u won't be able to enter them which will lead to additional 20 mins around in the eta. No give me my 5% discount.

Dear Mr Singh , we appreciate your feedback that your stay was good and the staff members were cooperative during your stay , Our Location is the best in town overlooking the Mall road and very Central . We had informed you that the Mall road of Solan is closed to traffic from 5.30 pm to 8pm to allow the tourists and the residents of the town to take a stroll down the mall road , you have to take a detour or an alternate route that is the Byepass road and enter the town again from Saproon Chowk during the evening hours , if you are coming from Shimla the route from where you were coming , this was informed to you , but Perhaps you were not able to clearly understand and hence its unfortunate that you took the Mall road route which was closed to traffic , this norm of closing the road to traffic is followed in Solan town throughout the year . A better communication with the hotel staff regarding directions to the property would have avoided this situation .
Lovely stay
coupleGood location, nice view from garden, excellent property. Food and service was very nice. True to its name, 'retreat, the quiet old mansion provides a lovely corner in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the main street below.

Mixed Experience with Some Positives
familyOur stay at this hotel had both positives and negatives. On the positive side, the hotel's location is conveniently close to the market area, making it easy to explore. Although the owner wasn't present on-site, he kept in regular contact with us throughout our stay to check in and ensure we had everything we needed. He also generously upgraded our room, which we appreciated. On the last day, even though we were late in ordering food and the cook had left, the staff on duty made a great effort to prepare a meal for us at the last minute. However, there were several downsides. Upon arrival, we were told that someone would meet us to guide us to the hotel, but no one showed up, leaving us to find our own way. The hotel does not offer parking, and the road leading to the property is quite narrow, making it difficult for those traveling by car. There was no water available when we arrived, which was very inconvenient. Additionally, the food was overpriced for the quality and taste offered, and the room had a lot of mosquitoes, making it uncomfortable to stay. In summary, while the owner’s attentiveness and the staff's effort were appreciated, the stay fell short in terms of facilities and comfort. Improvements are definitely needed before we could recommend this hotel.

We recently completed our trip to solan (himachal pradesh. We stayed i solan retreat. It was amazing hill place to trip with family. Great ambiance of hotel. We get full view of solan city from here. Hotel has large rooms to stay. Hotel staff is full supportive. A special thanks to mr vishal who is very helpful. He was their for you for every need

Very nice experience
familyLocation was good, this is old heritage building, food prepared by staff as per our request was very good, safe stay with children, mr. Amlesh, the caretaker was very kind & professional and helped us in every possible way. No issue with our stay, but i wish the owner could be more kind and professional towards its staff, after all they all were working for best experience of the guests
Excellent Stay
familyThe family-suite was spacious. The rooms were pretty clean. The property has an old-villa charm so, the furniture and other accessories are antique and old-world. It is approximately 50 staircaises up-and-down from the mall road. They have vehicle accessibility, almost to the doorstep. The staff was very courteous and very helping. The owner was very kind, caring and helping. The best part was the place gives you a sense of security and homeliness. You feel like you are staying at a relative's home. The money charged overall was worth-it. The food was delicious, homely and freshly-prepared. Overall, it was a lovely experience at the villa and meeting mr. Vishal jain and especially his mother, who made us feel at home and mingled with very nicely. Suggestions: the room can be pre-cleaned an pre-ready so, that the guest can check-in without much waiting. The rooms can have ceiling fan, instead of pedestrial fan. There should be an exhaust fan in the bathroom. Overall, our stay was excellent! thank you.

Hi Radhika thanks for your good review and to give us a five star rating .the only room that did not have a ceiling fan was the one you stayed in , we have installed a ceiling fan in the room and an exhaust fan in the bathroom . We welcome your advice .Solan is a cool place , it's only in the month of May and June you have to put on a fan , The rest of the months you can do without a fan , our villa has high ceilings and has good ventilation. Till recently the house did not have a single fan , due to temperature spikes in the summers we have put fans in all the rooms .
Good and comfortable stay
The location is great, very close to solan railway station. Scenic beauty can be enjoyed from the hotel lawn itself. Beautiful flowers are there. We were two families, and two family suites were provided. Each family suite had two rooms where 4 persons could stay. The atmosphere was like a homestay. The food was fresh and tasty. The services were good but delayed.

It's a very average place. Made out of a very old home with a very old style washrooms.

Hi Vinayak we would like to inform you that its a Victorian era heritage Villa / Bungalow with an old world charm about it , with a expansive garden in front of it , its an iconic villa of Solan , the washrooms have Mosaic walls & Mosaic floorings keeping the old era period in mind , we have bathrooms with new designer tiles also , we would have changed your room to your liking , we checked your booking , you checked -in very late in the night and left early morning , so I understand we could not interact with each other . We could have given you rooms with designer tiles bathrooms instead of Mosiac walls Bathrooms , all our bathrooms have modern Jaquar bathroom Fittings . Our villa has flooring of French Mosiac . We were surprised to read your review .
Excellent Stay
Our experience of staying at solan retreat which is a heritage home was awesome. It gives the feeling of home inspite being far from home. The care taker gopal ji is a fabulous person. You get home-cooked food. His parathas are delicious. You can enjoy your lunch basking in the sun taking view of the mountains. A comfortable stay with all basic facilities. Thanks to mr jain the owner for his efforts to give maximum satisfaction to the guests.

Property is not good for stay
The homestay is not exactly as shown in the photos, as per rates of homestay is very high, the condition of the rooms was very bad.

Dear Guest , We were taken aback to read your review , we remember that you wanted an early check-in at the villa and we could not provide it to you as the rooms were occupied , we had informed to you before arrival at the villa that no rooms can be given to you early in the morning and you were very upset and angry about it as you were travelling with your family of 4 persons, we can understand that it led you to give us a low rating, we cannot tell our guests to release the rooms or make them checkout before their checkout time, we wish you understood this before writing this review, we gave the room that you had booked in Make my Trip Travel portal and no other room was given to you which you have mistakenly written in your review, and our rates our quite modest we had given accommodation to four guests and our room area size is 250 Sq ft with two double beds . The pictures of the rooms are there on MMT website, your review seems to be erroneous.

It's a beautiful stay and host jain sahab and gopal who is working there are soft spoken personality, i will recommend my friends to stay there, the property has an awesome sunset view as well as solan city, from its well maintained garden, kudos

Excellent place to stay at top of solan
It is a 150 year old heritage property. Well maintained and super clean rooms. Royal treatment by host (jain sahab. It reminds you of your childhood time. Terrace in front of villa is a superb place to grab coffee and watch solan city. Caretaker is well behaved and his family is managing the property for 3 generations. Good if you go for breakfast as it is very nicely served. Highly recommended for all travellers.

Average Stay
Location good, no power back up, no tv, no intercom, no room view. It was a good place to spend a vacation, just need to get themselves better.

Unfortunately there was a massive power substation breakdown in solan. It was a freak breakdown leading to power failure all over the town for which emergency lights were provided in all the rooms. As our property was full we could not provide you the room that you were looking for and can very well understand your misgivings ! inf-act even though our check in time is 2pm, we went out of our way to get your room cleaned and ready for your early morning check in. Our rooms have brand new televisions with all channels and ott platform available. We offer 24/7 room service and the phone number of our caretaker is provided to the guests for all their requirements. Lastly since our property was full, the only available room was the courtyard view room. Even that room has partial view of the mountains.
The best home stay in solan.
The property (jain house) is a villa of british era which is well maintained and equipped with modern facilities. Cleanliness of the room and bathroom was top notch. Hosts and the staff were very courteous and helpful. There is also a lawn to relax and enjoy. We totally loved the ambience and overall experience during our stay. Arguably, it is the best home stay in solan city.

Great experience at a very reasonable price
I had a wonderful experience at solan retreat (jain house. The property is situated at mall road. The usp of the property is its lawn and the valley view from the property. Mr. Jain (owner of the property) greeted us on arrival and was incredibly helpful. He helped us a lot to make our stay pleasant. One can walk from mall to the property (around 80-90 stairs) as well as the other side (jawahar park) of the property by car/auto. Will recommend other to stay here.

Excellent experience in hotel solan retreat jain house
The hospitality shown by mr. Jain, owner of the property was excellent, he was a thorough gentleman, we went there with office group and everybody enjoyed the place and climate, one drawback is there that there us no inhouse food arrangements in the hotel you have to order from the app. Rest the place was very nice and peaceful.

Hi mr amit singhal we are indeed very pleased to read your review, we are happy and thankful that you and your entire office team of 10 persons immensely liked the place. We offer breakfast at extra charges as you all had and liked the food, but for lunch and dinner we cook veg meals only, there are numerous restaurants and eateries on the mall road which the our in- house guests can order from, and it gets delivered at the property. Zomato and swiggy have their service as well. We have a full fledged kitchen if the guests wishes he can rustle up a meal for himself. But on request we do have our caretaker cooking meals, i. E. Lunch & dinner as well, but we surely serve breakfast for the guests.
