Someone said "Quality in service is not what u put into it. It is what the customer gets out of it." Thats the case here at Hotel Rana and Guest house. My 10 yer old son and I went to Chakrata. Just for a weekend. In early February. It was cold. My goal was to get some peaceful timeout and see some himalayan vistas. My sons' goal was to play in snow. I wanted him to also get some non urban experience. We land up at Rana Guest house. Now, its not that they have put in 5 or 3 star stuff into this hotel/guest house. Not even close. There is absolutely nothing swanky about this place. It's a basic room, with clean bathroom, thin pillows and thick blankets. But what we got as an experience is unbelievably awesome. So, how did we do with our goals? Get some peaceful timeout - yes. Sat around bon fire chatting with folks
see some himalayan vistas - yes. just fantastic. Play in snow - yes. Just round the corner. Get some non urban experience - yes. Also played galli cricket with local kids. Location: 12 kms away from Chakrata. On mussourie Road. A little village - Makhti. But when u see the snow peaks on one side and barren hills on the other, when u see moon rise and sun rise on either side, when u see glowing snow peaks with moon light and sun light, I won't ask for more. Service: Subhash, the man who runs it - is just amazing. From him, I learnt many things but one thing I will definitely take back - that I can double my speed of doing anything. Food was prepared on order. Fresh. What we wanted. The food was one of the best I've had in my travels ever. Then, his attention to every little thing, his selfless and positive personalised service attitude made the difference. 5 star hotel guys got a few things to learn here.
