We booked accommodation for four family members to visit Guruvayur Temple for dharsan, relying on decent user feedback . The property allocated us two rooms—one air-conditioned and one non-AC.
We checked in around 7 PM and used the AC room to freshen up, only to find the toilet flush was not working. Though the issue was resolved after we reported it, we headed out for the night dharsan. Upon returning at 11 PM, we encountered several issues in the non-AC room:
The bathroom lacked a lock.
The floor tiles were broken, creating a safety hazard.
There was no ventilation, and the room had a strong, unpleasant odor.
Despite these challenges, we managed to rest and left the room by 4 AM for the morning dharsan. We returned around 11:40 AM, under the hot sun and amidst temple crowds, only to find the room power had been switched off. After calling the front desk at 12 PM, power was restored briefly—followed by a call reminding us of checkout. By 12:15 PM, the power was turned off again, even though we hadn’t officially checked out. In total, we stayed barely five hours.
This experience left us disappointed with the property's hospitality standards. Basic amenities and courteous service were lacking, which was unfortunate given the spiritual nature of our visit.
