The minute I walked into this hotel the first thing the wife of the owner ( the husband was not there told me was to take room No. 119. I requested to see other rooms as the doors of the other rooms were open since cleaning was going on and they didn’t seem occupied. She didn’t agree & insisted I took just the room that she wanted to a lot to me. Since I was tired from the long journey, I gave in. I went for breakfast and she rudely said that since I had booked the room only for a day, she would give me breakfast today but not the next day. But I had booked the room on double occupancy and since my partner hadn’t been able to join me on the trip due to last minute work, two breakfast meals is what I paid for and deserved, but again I deferred to her without any murmur. The hotel helper told me that I had to keep water running for two buckets and only then hot water would start coming. I ran the water for 15 mins and 15 buckets (what a waste of precious water), Still ice cold water was coming and outside temp was zero degrees. So I went down and told the help about the issue, Suddenly to my surprise the wife of the owner starts fuming and mumbling about Bombay people wanting hot water everywhere and suddenly challenging me to show how hot water was not there. Then they realised that water from one pipe was over and it takes time from second pipe for hot water to flow. It takes about 20 mins or so. I didn't know that as I was told 2 mins. I told her to look into the matter instead of yelling at me. Instead of apologizing for the rude behaviour she went beserk. She ran towards me to hit me.. Her three house helpers held her back and saved me. She was screaming at the top of her lungs. I was scared and just went up to my room and was shocked. After that she was still yelling from down so I went to the window to say I had not said anything wrong... She started throwing stones at the window ran up and was almost going to break my door. By then I called my friend who had booked this hotel for me. He in turn called the owner who was in Kashmir. The owner then called his brother / friend who rents a shop in the same hotel. He came running and knocked my room door. I was shivering because of what this lady had put me through. I slowly opened the door.. He said I'm really sorry for her behaviour she goes crazy sometimes. I was going to go to the police and also wanted to change my hotel but he pleaded 10 times. So I said it's OK. But later he told me about her that she behaves rudely with a lot of clients, staff and himself told me that she doesn't understand that it takes a lifetime to build a reputation and only two minutes of stupid acts like these to ruin it. I had come for a vacation and it was the worst night of my life. As a woman she could have made me feel secure as I was travelling alone but I have never felt this way I cried and slept esp with mountain altitude/ giddiness / vomiting and headaches I was going through this episode alone. Next day I asked for breakfast as we had paid for 2 people she refused. Without any argument I packed my bags hungry... Could almost faint on empty stomach. I left. I stayed after that just two block away in Leh Castle a beautiful hotel with a wonderful owner. She was caring, never yelled at her helpers also let alone guests and I stayed there for 5 nights! I came back with wonderful memories of Ladakh because of the new hotel owner. But Nezer Holiday Inn was the worst experience of my life. I have stayed in 7 stars, 5 stars and hotels worth 500 rs too I have had great experiences. This owner was a pysco. Stay away guests from this place! There are dime a dozen better hotels in Ladakh to spare you the agony this lady can put anyone through.
