I recently stayed at Kedar River Retreat during my Kedarnath Yatra. The location is undoubtedly its biggest strength—nestled right by the Mandakini River with incredible views of the mountains. Waking up to the sound of flowing water and fresh Himalayan air is truly a blessing.
The staff was warm and helpful. They arranged for a cab at the last minute, served food even late at night, and always had a smile. The food was fresh and home-style, which is much appreciated after a long day of travel.
However, the stay wasn’t without issues. Cleanliness in the bathrooms could be improved. The power backup takes time to kick in, and during cold nights, that wait can be frustrating. Also, some guests faced confusion with third-party bookings, so it’s better to book directly by calling the property.
Overall, it’s a good choice for spiritual travelers who value scenery, simplicity, and service, but if you’re expecting luxury or perfection, be mindful of a few rough edges.
