River rocks hampi is the backpackers' stay. As soon as you reach the location, since it is in anegundi you have to either reach by boat through talwar gatta and then rickshaw or by local bus via kadebagillu, you'll notice it is situated in the village area and gives typical hampi traveller's vibe. The owner and the manager, mr mehboob and mr. Giriraj are extremely hospitable. They make sure you get to the location safely. They'll arrange a two wheeler or a cycle as per your request from nearby shop. The food is tasty, you have to inform an hour before so they can get it for you. The rooms are simple but clean and tidy. The common hall has drawings by other travellers, you too can draw on the wall. Every traveller that visits river rocks leaves a part of themselves behind in the form of the drawing. It's a warm place and good people all around. Mr. Mehboob's kids are the sweetest. They visit during their holidays but if they are there, they'll be your local tour guide and take you to the chintamani temple for sunrise and show you val i caves. In short, the stay is absolutely perfect for a group, a family and solo travelers as well. We were just 2 girls visiting hampi, so i can say that it is safe for girls too. Mr giriraj used to check on us every evening after 6:30 pm in case we were late or needed any help. Very sweet people. Will recommend for a backpacker's weekend.
