Property is located 21 kms away from Gangotri Temple in Dharali Village. Location of property is exquisite, facing river Bhagirathi flowing at foot of himalayas. The property doesn't have a kitchen and takes support of near by restaurant to fulfill basic requirements like warm water. I am a seasoned travaller who have stayed at myriads of places but I have never felt safety concerns of the kind I felt at this facility. The property has open access for anyone unhindered, there is no way to lock the main premises.
One of the most awkward moment was when a ragpicker residing next to the property used property premises to access his shelter. This is a major red flag for people travelling with their families. There is a disputed parking area in front of the facility which is shared with other hotel facilities, I faced problem when someones else parked vehichle behind mine, when we tried to request it escalated in to an altercation
. A noteworthy point is the care-taker of the property even though was aware of the scene unfolding, chose to turn a blind eye and even when we requested he failed to provide any support. Another inportant thing is I was never checked in formally at the hotel, even after my repeated mentions I never completed any formalities, I have photos of the facility with my family to confirm I was indeed staying if porperty owners ever want to dispute it.
A quick sum up of my expereince is - the property is placed exceptionally well to provide you with best view of the nature possible BUT there are very serious security concerns for the people who are staying and vehicle due to parking concerns.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations. However, we’d like to clarify a few things for transparency. Our property is located in Dharali’s main market, surrounded by peaceful locals and nature. The person you mentioned" ragpicker"is our staff member who stays with us and helps manage daily tasks, including horse care.
Parking is in a shared public area, and the dispute you faced involved a third party. We do our best to assist guests but cannot control external issues. Regarding check-in, your details were available via the platform, so ID was not requested again. On check-out, the key was taken in the morning and returned late despite our number being available for coordination.
Dharali is a safe, community-based region, and we’ve made improvements to security and guest coordination. As a family-run homestay, we aim to provide a simple, authentic Himalayan experience. We appreciate your feedback and remain committed to improving.
Warm regards,
Golden Heritage Dharali Team
