A Storybook Escape in Landour- La Villa Bethany

Our decision to stay at La Villa Bethany during our 4-day trip to Mussoorie and Landour was undoubtedly the highlight of our journey—a choice that turned an ordinary holiday into an extraordinary one From the moment we stepped in, it felt as though we had walked straight into the pages of a storybook. This charming heritage homestay, nestled in the quiet serenity of Landour, is overflowing with warmth, character, and an incredible collection of books and fascinating artifacts that reflect a love for history and storytelling. At the heart of this haven is Sunita Kudle, the gracious owner whose hospitality, warmth, and encyclopedic knowledge of Mussoorie and India made our experience all the more enriching. She isn’t just a host—she’s a curator of memories and stories, a guide through the rich tapestry of the region’s past. Our room was nothing short of divine—comfortable, cozy, and thoughtfully done up with attention to every detail. The comfort level was A+, and the atmosphere made it difficult to leave the room each morning. The charm of La Villa Bethany doesn’t end indoors. The friendly dogs, delightful play area with slides and swings, the gazebo perfect for reading or reflection, board games, and an abundant library—all contributed to a dreamlike holiday setting. Another highlight is its unbeatable location. With iconic spots like Kellogg Church, St. Paul’s Church, Char Dukan, Ivy Café (with its unmatched food and ambience), Landour Bakehouse (though a tad overhyped), Prakash Store, and Arjun Store with its delicious jams and squashes—all just a stroll away—it felt like the entire essence of Landour was at our doorstep. Once founded as a place of rest and healing, Bethany truly lives up to its legacy. We left with our hearts full, our minds refreshed, and a deep longing to return again—soon.
