I booked a one-night stay at The Leela Kovalam to celebrate my mother’s birthday, and it turned out to be one of the most heartwarming experiences we’ve had in our own city. From the moment we arrived, we were touched by the hospitality that Leela is known for—many of the staff having come from the old ITDC days, bringing with them a legacy of genuine care and attention. Every staff member we interacted with treated us with warmth, respect, and thoughtfulness. I had reserved a Premium Sea View Room, and considering my mom’s age, the team proactively arranged a senior citizen–friendly room, which made her stay much more comfortable. The view from the cliff overlooking the Arabian Sea was breathtaking, and the property itself—with its expansive 65 acres, lush surroundings, and organic farm—was a treat to explore. To our delight, the staff went out of their way to celebrate my mother’s birthday. Without me even requesting it, they organized a small celebration and even surprised her with a thoughtful birthday gift. The food, across every meal, was absolutely scrumptious, blending tradition with finesse. The room reflected Kerala’s traditional charm and was very well maintained. Even their taxi driver impressed us—he was polite, well-informed, and shared interesting tidbits about the property’s history and ITDC heritage, making the short rides memorable. Overall, The Leela Kovalam stood out not just for its world-class location and facilities, but for the unmatched warmth of its people. This experience made my mother’s birthday truly special, and for that, I’ll always be grateful. Highly recommended for anyone seeking luxury with a personal touch.

We had stayed in the same hotel 45 years ago. So we selected this property for its nostalgic value. The location is great. One can enjoy views of the sea from every corner. The sea view rooms have a private balcony which is a pleasant spot for morning tea. Service is prompt and provided with a smile. However the room facilities are not up to the standard of a five star hotel. The menu for ala carte food is rather limited. Breakfast spread was quite standard with nothing to write home about.

Good place to spend time with family, away from all the city noise

it's the second time we stayed here. We came here as a stay for one day during our honeymoon vacation. This time we came with our sweet baby and stayed for two night. Both time we choose the Sea view villa because for us it is away for people and close to nature and Ocean. We had a big very open back space where childrens can walk freely and watch the waves. Service of the leela was top notch. Foods are very tasty and the complementary breakfast is very good and lot of options. They also has yoga, Tea party, Play area for children, video games, pool table etc. They have a beautiful pool area. it is very nice to spend time. Golf cart is available to get from places to places. Over all it was a great experience. we recommend everyone.

This place is nothing short of paradise. What a beautiful location in the valley next to the ocean, so breathtaking. The staffs are so wonderful, friendly helping and give the best service you can get, they are always helpful.Enjoyed my stay here to the max be the property the food and the hospitality by the staffs.cant wait to return again.

As expected, Leela Kovalam is a wonderful property. What truly stands out is the breathtaking ocean view from the villa, along with the warm hospitality of the team. While the rooms may appear comparatively smaller than those in other resorts in Kerala, they are comfortable and sufficient for two. The highlight for me was the tea served during hi-tea—an absolute delight for tea lovers. Please pass on my compliments to the chef for that experience. Overall, it was a serene 5-star stay, accompanied by the soothing sound of the ocean.
