Great cottage experience, close proximity to lake and restaurants.

Property very close to lake, walkable. Cost is for the location. Needs bit of renovation. 1 rat made our last night scary as it entered bedroom upstairs.

groupLikes - location is good, the caretaker and owner were helpful, the food was simple but excellent and the local wildlife used the roof as a kind of thoroughfare at night which i found rather spooky and charming. Dislikes - condition of the rooms was less than acceptable, to say the least - there were cobwebs on the walls and dust in the cupboard. Bed sheets had bloodstains that should have condemned them, the rooms were generally musty. The worst experience were the bathrooms - commodes were stained and looked like they were only cleaned infrequently, the water jet adjacent to the pot didn’t work, water supply needed to be replenished frequently by asking the caretaker to turn on the pump, and there was a distinct stink that was there when we arrived and persisted throughout our stay. Final thoughts - i wouldn’t stay at this property again, given it’s condition. That said, if the owners/managers can bring it up to expected standards of cleanliness, it could become a really nice place for a holiday.
