Girivihar Hotel Matheran

We recently stayed at this heritage-style property for a day, and while it had its charm, the overall experience didn’t justify the high price. The place was undeniably clean, and the owner was proactive and helpful. However, the facilities were outdated—there was no heater, electric kettle, or even a basic exhaust fan in the washroom. Lighting was poor, especially along the path from the main gate to our cottage, making it unsafe at night. There were frequent power outages, which added to the inconvenience. The food was very basic, and both the quality and quantity didn’t match the price charged. It was also disappointing to be told that even hot water would incur an extra charge—something as simple and essential as that should be complimentary, especially for elderly guests.

GiriVihar is excellent property surrounded by greenary from all sides, very peaceful also market is accessible at very convenient distance. Staff was very very good. In summation a very osum experience to stay at girivihar.

We did a night stay and were so happy about the service and food. The staff is really helpful and kind in nature. The place is very beautifully covered with greenery. We can play box cricket, chess and other activities like badminton and carrom. The tea was really nice along with lunch. Overall a great experience. Excited to visit soon

It's a great experience for me to stay at a heritage property, i am delighted and impressed with the experience of the food and environment. I always feel like i'm staying at dhammagiri, igatpuri where i goes for my meditation course.

It’s an average stay one can go with. The rooms were not that good considering the price. Some ac deluxe rooms are like cage, very small and congested. Rest the food was excellent and homely and the property is big. We booked it as all others hotel were already booked. Also it’s at dead end, so everything is far except few points.

Property is well located at walkable distance from main market and many beautiful view points like lord, lake, rambaug, khandala point, race course and others. Owner is very helpful and staff is very polite. Service and food is good. Nice place for a peaceful break.

The stay was perfectly fine the cleanliness was good food was nice the hospitality was very pure and the location was also perfect. Moreover the room was comfortable with all amenities specially the washroom which was perfect and vintage looking

The owner of the property is a very horrible lady. Very poor service tv and wifi was not working when asked for reason and replied very arrogantly. Very far from the city and market. The lady who manages the property is very rude and should learn how to handle the customer.

Neat and clean rooms, near to matheran market n station, food quality excellent with sweets like fruit custard, gajar halva, gujarati puran poli, sev tomato sabji, bhakri and one night noodles, fried rice.

Location of the hotel is usp. Clean, neat and spacious rooms. Excellent veg food. Big play area for kids and the garden. If you are a nature lover and want to have a peaceful stay, then this place is for you. The best part was polite and helpful staff.

Very nice place. Staff are polite. Food was awesome. The weather is cool and pleasant. It's nice to stay for 3-4 days.

Although the place is a few mins away from the market. I will recommend it if you crave for peace and nature. The hotel surrounding is a bliss with trees and path walks. There are 2 temples near by. The pisarnath temple and charlotte lake point is very near. Hotel staff and service is hassel free. Also the arrangement to sit outside room is ausum. Lot of space inside the property to sit and walk. If you are a nature lover like me you sure like this place. It's away from all the dj and parties and hustle of the market place. I would recommend opt for their food which very homely and best compared to what you would get in the market things that can improve: doors and windows are weak and not properly locking. The back door for toilet is not needed. It felt a little unsafe while bathing as it is a non sturdy door and also the toilet window won't close fully. Hot water should be made available with inbuilt heater.

Non-veg food was not there so had to go outside. Even the telephone was not there for assistance and geyser was not there for bath so had lot of issues. Just the outside environment was good. Would not recommend it for others

i was promised 3 separate rooms with same bed and size but they give us one room not clean and very small and even full of bugs we have our child with us we have to move to my friends room for night sleep

It was the best stay, home cook delicious food with breakfast and dinner included. Extra if you want anything from food to cold drinks they get you. Rooms were clean and cleaned daily. Owner was super friendly. One caution don't eat outside your before 6 pm else monkey will take away everything you have and that's common in matheran.

This place is near charlotte lake. Its a secluded property and vast. There are outdoor games available. If you want to live a day or 2 without network and completely lost in nature, pick this place. The property serves food and breakfast which was delicious. The rooms are little oddly designed in a way that there is very less space for ventilation. During monsoon the place is covered with clouds which feels heavenly
