OSTEL Auroville

The location of the ostel was lovely. Stayed there for a day, met amazing people. Best place to stay if you are in Pondicherry bag packing trip.

Great place, very clean and a great environment for a young group

Ostel In Pondicherry is easily the most luxurious hostel I’ve stayed at in India. The rooms and amenities are top-notch, very clean, hygienic, and felt more like a boutique hotel than a hostel. The food was excellent too. I tried the Shakshouka and Paneer Fried Rice, and both were absolutely delicious. The rooftop terrace is a perfect spot to enjoy the sunrise, and the swimming pool was well maintained. Just remember to carry your swimsuit and cap, or you can rent a cap there for only ₹50. Bike rentals were smooth and hassle free, and the reception staff were super friendly and gave great local recommendations for exploring the town. I stayed for 5 nights in a 4-bed mixed dorm and had a wonderful experience overall. I’ll definitely be coming back here the next time I’m in Pondicherry. Pro tip: If you’re arriving by bus from Chennai or Bangalore, get down at the Auroville bus stop near the Dindigul Thalappakatti restaurant. Ostel is just a 2-minute walk from there, so you can skip taking an auto.

It was ok stay considering this is dorm. Very limited in house cafeteria, no adequate parking space, outside of pondychery main city. 3rd floor RO was non functional. Inconvenience of bathroom being on the other side of the room. Rooms cannot be locked, and they charge for small lockers inside room.

Had a really good experience here! The staff were very helpful and quick to respond – I noticed a stain on the bedsheet initially, but they changed it immediately without any fuss. The lounge area is a great spot to relax, with a TV, plenty of games to choose from, and lots of opportunities to meet new people. A small suggestion would be to have privacy curtains near the beds or a space to change, especially if the washroom is occupied or wet. Also, there are extra charges for using the pool and for a locker lock, but overall, the atmosphere is fun, social, and welcoming. You can definitely book if you’re looking to make friends or want a stay close to the beach. The deck area has some of the best sunrises you’ll ever see! Just note, this property is not in or near Auroville/Matri Mandir – it’s at least a 20-minute drive, so having an Activa or car is a must.

Best experience ever. Fun host

Stay was sweet and clean, property was amazing, pool very clean. But the problem is, I stayed with my partner in a private room so they should atleast let people bring food or snacks in room. Not everyone is comfortable eating outside at their open area with so many insects and worm like animals crawling here and there.

The overall experience of stay was super comfortable, with all amenities around and board games, cozy lounge along with some must try breakfast options

Not worth 11k for one night in sea view room. The sea view was blocked partially with hut made in front of the sea. No other facility and no complimentary breakfast. It’s a good hostel for probably choosing a dormitory room. The staffs were cordial but the facilities were not up to the mark.

The vibes were crazy. The staff was very helpful and sweet. They invited us to all their parties.

The stay is very good. Location was beautiful. Easy access to the beach. The private room with sea view was so amazing and calming. The lounge/working room with Wi-Fi & games was awesome. Even the cafeteria with food and beverages was good. The host and reception was good and helpful in accommodating us and helping out with recommendations in and around the city. Overall it was an amazing experience.

Had a wonderful stay at this hostel. The interiors are minimalist yet very aesthetic, exactly like the photos. The space feels calm, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. Staff was polite and helpful, and the atmosphere was perfect for both relaxing and meeting other travelers. Great value for money—would definitely recommend to anyone visiting here.

Property was very well maintained and had a good and helpful reception staff. The lounge and common areas were excellent adding to the vibe. The only thing was considering it’s a backpacking community hostel, there were more people travelling in groups of 3 or more which kills the vibe as the interaction and the solo travelling experience goes for a toss a bit!

The public utilities like common washroom corridors and deck are locked and closed after 10PM, swimming pool is additional charges
