Once Upon The River - Cochin International Airport

The property was serene with lots of greenery around. Never felt the scorching sunlight even during the noon because of the trees. The swimming pool was clean.Rooms were spacious and the staff were friendly.

I recently stayed at Once Upon a River and it was a refreshing experience. The property is beautifully located, offering a peaceful riverside ambience that immediately makes you feel relaxed. The rooms were comfortable and well-kept, with a cozy charm that matched the natural surroundings. The staff were courteous and attentive, always ready to help with a smile, which added to the warmth of the stay. Food options were enjoyable, with a nice variety, though there’s room for improvement in terms of speed of service. What stood out most was the tranquil setting — perfect for unwinding, enjoying nature, and stepping away from the rush of daily life. Overall, Once Upon a River is a wonderful retreat for anyone looking to relax by the water.

A lush green three acre property, you name it and they have it. Such a well behaved cooperative staff, clean room and full amenities, awesome and fairly priced food, lovely stay, beautiful place.

Great staff. Good restaurant. Good Ambience and very near to Railway Station. Location is misleading. It's not near to the Airport. Disappointed with the room provided. It was more like a dormitory for four than a family suite. A dressing table in the room should be provided. Also the AC is insufficient for such a big room. Please install an AC with higher capacity.

We had a memorable time staying at ‘Once upon the river’. The staff was courteous, helpful and happy for us. The garden, trees were well thought about and managed. Happy to have stayed here.

It is a nice and comfortable resort with a kids play area, though we couldn’t use it much in our overnight stay. The restaurant is small and dining options are limited. The rooms are clean, but there are varieties of bugs because of the vegetation around the rooms.

This is an excellent property if you want to stay in a calm and noise free environment at the same time easy access to the airport. The food is good. The restaurant is within walking distance. The periyar river adds more value to this property. We availed the airport drop facility. It was on time. The hotel staff are polite and prompt in attending to the customers.

Our recent stay at once upon the river, cochin, was filled with a mix of highs and lows, providing both memorable moments and some areas for improvement. The resort, nestled alongside the picturesque periyar river, offers a serene natural setting, but our experience was somewhat impacted by maintenance and amenity issues. The positives: the standout feature of our stay was the resort's incredibly courteous staff. From the moment we arrived, they went out of their way to ensure that each one of us, from the youngest to the oldest, felt comfortable and at home. Every request was met with a smile, and their promptness in attending to food orders and other services was commendable. The location of the resort is quite unique, with direct access to the flowing periyar river. A staircase leads down to the riverbank, providing a peaceful spot to enjoy the water's edge. Despite some challenges (which i’ll mention later, the river’s proximity adds a special charm to the stay. The negatives: while the natural setting is a highlight, the resort’s maintenance leaves much to be desired. One of the first things we noticed was the slippery and poorly maintained concrete bank by the river, which felt unsafe to walk on, especially with young children. Although the resort is spacious, the pathways feel congested due to overgrown plantations. On rainy days, this creates a somewhat unsettling atmosphere, especially with the fear of snakes lurking around. The dense vegetation, while beautiful, needs better management to maintain a balance between nature and guest safety. The swimming pool, which we had hoped would be a major attraction for the kids, was a disappointment. It’s relatively small, and during our stay, the water appeared unclear, which deterred us from fully enjoying it. As for the amenities, many were not well-maintained. The bow and arrow set offered had limited arrows, and some didn’t work at all. Similarly, the carrom boards in the rooms, the rooms themselves, and the cricket bats lacked proper upkeep, with no balls provided for play. These shortcomings took away from the fun activities we had planned during our stay. While the staff's service was top-notch, the food itself had room for improvement. Several dishes were lacking in salt, which slightly affected the overall dining experience. Additionally, the resort is located quite far from the main attractions, such as fort kochi. This means you'll need to plan for extra travel time if you're hoping to explore the more popular spots in cochin. Final thoughts: once upon the river - cochin has immense potential, with its beautiful riverside location and warm, welcoming staff. However, better maintenance of the property and its amenities, as well as improvements in food seasoning, would greatly enhance the experience. Despite these challenges, the resort still offers a peaceful retreat for families, though with some room for improvement, especially considering its distance from the city's main attractions.

Our family of 5 adults and 3 kids stayed during onam holidays. We had a really pleasant stay. Staffs were friendly and really helpful. Kids enjoyed quality time in pool. Play area was exceptional.

The trademark of this property was their hospitality. The rooms are well maintained and decent amenities. They have few activities within the premises but can be increased. Food options are decent and quality of the found was good.

Beautiful experience in the middle of the city.. Countryside experience inside the Hustles of Aluva. Never imagined though. Loved it. Will visit the property again for sure. Safe n soothing experience 🤩🤩🤩🤩

The hospitality of the staff is appreciable. The ambience is nature friendly and quiet. The food and other services are also awesome. I would highly recommend this resort for those who want to enjoy with family or friends, once upon the river is the best choice.

The room was very spacious and clean. We had lunch and breakfast at the property and both times it was very nice. The staff was very polite and helpful. They even arranged our travel to the airport in the morning through the property's vehicle. Would definitely want to stay here again.

It was good experience and and enjoy the nature and scenery are so beautiful and we will share our experience my friend also.
