Vishnupad Temple
Situated on the banks of the Phalgu River, the Vishnupad Temple enshrines an 11-foot footprint of Lord Vishnu on basalt rock.
Rebuilt in 1787 by the Maratha queen Ahilyabai Holkar, the shrine’s 100-ft shikhara is crafted from inter-locking granite blocks set without mortar.
Pilgrims also worship the ancient Akshay Vat (immortal banyan tree) where Lord Rama is believed to have performed pind-daan.
During Pitru Paksha, thousands converge here to offer rites for ancestors under the guidance of Gayawal Brahmins.
Temple Timings: Morning – 4:30 am to 12:30 pm | Evening – 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Aarti Timings: Morning – 5:00 am | Evening – 7:00 pm
Fast-track darshan and dedicated pind-daan enclosures are available for an additional fee.
