Govardhan Temple
Believed to date back to Lord Krishna's era, the temple is situated approximately 50 meters from the sacred Manasi Ganga lake.
The main deity of the temple is Lord Haridev, a form of Lord Krishna. Legend says Krishna appeared here holding the Govardhan Hill to protect Brijwasis from a storm.
Haridev appeared in the form of a deity with left hand raised as if lifting Goverdhan hill to protect Brijwasis.
Built by King Vajranabha, a descendant of Krishna, the temple was rebuilt by Raja Bhagavana Singh in the 16th century after rediscovering the deity.
The temple, a significant stop on the sacred 21 km Govardhan Parikrama, reflects its profound spiritual importance.
