Had a 1 night stay at Desert valley resort with family (spouse and kid) this week. A bit of mixed bag. The property location is great. It is right across the sand dunes point so you can just walk to camel safari point. It is a decent sized property and the front facade looks great. Rooms are of good size. The property manager was also courteous and prompt, giving us a room upgrade to room with an attached pool which my daughter really enjoyed. Has a nice play area and a central swimming pool too. However few issues with the stay which made a possible great stay feel very average overall. There were couple of family residents in the property but The property had booked a group of ~50 (non family) people at the same time. The cultural show in evening felt a bit like a dance bar, not suitable for a family setup. The same thing was visible at the swimming pool making us restrict mostly to the room. Room hygiene was okayish given being in desert a few insects here and there were expected. The food quality was also very average with scope to improve the cleanliness of cutlery.

Overall a good experience. Pros: Good and helpfull staff specially the person attending the reception. The evening program they organise is to watch out for. Food was also very good. Cons: Too many insects on the property made me uncomfortable. On the dates I went there it was mostly boys group from neighboring states, so people going with their families might not feel good.

Very warm welcome at reception desk and arranged all activities for desert. Their all services were good except we had hot water issues to take a bath. Hopefully they can upgrade their hot water tank.

Waking up in the desert

familyMy primary reason for going back to jaisalmer was to be able to wake up to the desert sun. The property serves that purpose well. You can just cross the road and walk into the sand dunes. The food was vegetarian, so average, evening snacks and entertainment was standard. Staff and service was above average. Some things when asked was promptly attended to and somethings were delivered without having to ask for it. Overall, i had a great stay and i'd definitely recommend to anyone visiting seam yo stay here.
