Intro: Rakesh, the of Snow Line View Homestay, is proof that it's the people that make a place enjoyable. Location: The homestay is a little off Fagu. You will have to get off the main road and travel on a dirt road for a kilometer or so. Again, Rakesh came to the rescue. He was waiting for us in Fagu, and we just had to follow him into the estate. It is a wide open space and parking was not a problem. The building itself is a insulated with wood. Add to it a fireplace in the kitchen and the thick blankets, and we didn't feel the 3 degree temperature at night. The bathrooms are modern and the beds are comfortable. Do not forget to hike down to the temple that is visible from the balcony. But be warned; the uphill climb back will make you profusely sweat and pant. Food: Although there are restaurants in Fagu, we were fortunate to enjoy the hospitality of the hosts, who prepared traditional dinner and breakfast for a nominal cost. Nearby Places: We drove to Hatu Top and Deshu Hill, locations in opposite directions from the homestay. Rakesh was kind enough to accompany us to Hatu Top, which is relatively farther out towards the east and away from urban amenities. Deshu Hill is close to Kufri on the way to Shimla. There are many other attractions, but we only had a day. Conclusion: If I really force myself to think of a drawback, it is the extremely rocky road leading to the homestay. Apart from that, this is an ideal place especially for families looking to get away from the hustle bustle of popular tourist attractions. Agreed that Snow Line View Homestay is deep in the interiors, but the apple orchard, the snapped peaks visible from the glass room, the fresh Buffalo milk products, and the warmth of the people running this place will more than make up for it. Note: Check the weather before you book. This area is known for its heavy snow during certain times of the year.

For my 3days getaway from the heat and dust of Delhi, I chose this homestay and to be very honest, I got more than I expected. The property is of Mr. Rakesh Thakur who with his team works very hard to keep the guests happy. The serene surrounding and scenic beauty around is what makes the stay worthwhile. Hugely recommended.
