Good Stay Overall, but Not Truly Five-Star

I booked the room for three days. Overall, the stay was good, but it did not feel like the five-star experience one expects when booking a room at the Marriott. While making the reservation, I selected a smoking room; however, when I arrived, I was informed that all smoking rooms were already occupied. If rooms are unavailable, the booking system should not accept such reservations, or at the very least, the customer should be informed beforehand. When I requested a room change, I was told that I would be updated, but no one got back to me. Another concern was the lack of attention to detail, which is unusual for a five-star property. The room was generally clean, but there were visible spots on the floor, and the bathrobe was missing when I first entered the room. I requested one, but the bathrobe provided was dirty, with visible dirt marks and hair on it, as if it had been used. After paying such a premium price, you expect a true five-star experience, and this stay did not fully meet that standard. That said, not everything was negative—the food was good, and the dining service was excellent.

The room was clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. However, there was no way to get fresh air in the room, and although the garden view was nice, it wasn’t particularly special. Unfortunately, there was maintenance work going on during the day, and the noise was quite disturbing. I had to go out three times to ask them to lower the noise, but we still couldn’t rest properly during that time. Overall ok.

⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5) — Disappointing Experience Despite the Brand Name We recently stayed at Courtyard by Marriott, Agra, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations from a Marriott property. 1. No Confirmation or Coordination Before Arrival: There was no confirmation call from the hotel prior to our arrival to check our estimated time of check-in, which is something most reputed hotels usually do. A small but important gesture that sets the tone of hospitality was missing right from the start. 2. Poorly Managed Fun Zone: The hotel has a Fun Zone, but it seemed completely unattended. — after waiting for almost an hour and making 6–7 calls, a staff member finally brought it, only to inform us that it was out of charge. The explanation given was that they were short-staffed due to the holiday (Diwali). The next day, despite multiple calls again, the controller was never provided. It was quite disappointing, especially for a family-friendly property that advertises this facility. 3. Food & Dining Experience: The breakfast spread was good — fresh, well-managed, and with enough variety. However, the dinner buffet was poor, both in terms of spread and flexibility. For Diwali, they had a fish starter, and the next day the same starter was repeated. When we politely requested for a chicken starter or any small variation, the staff flatly refused, saying “You have to eat what is there in the buffet.” This lack of basic customisation and guest consideration felt Overall, while the property has potential, the service quality, responsiveness, and hospitality standards were disappointing. Marriott is known for its warmth and attention to detail, but this stay did not reflect that reputation.
