Truly a well maintained heritage hotel, with serene ambience. Well behaved staff & didnt have to ask for anything.

Elgin is a heritage hotel with long legacy but it required massive renovation to be at par with modernisation. Dining hall is shabby dark,pungent smell. Furniture are too old. Food quality is not up to the mark. Although staffs are cordial with good hospitality but they require more of training to serve guests. Overall average experience

First of all the hotel has no view of valley or mountains apparently... I booked a suite and they gave me the most dingy one they had which was in the lower floor and right next to the generator!!! The breakfast was not great either!!! I somehow managed to stay there for 3 days as they took the payment in advance but I took the loss and checked out the last day and checked into Planters!!! Make my trip should not have asked to pay in full without a guarantee of a good room!!

Very beautiful property, went with a family of 7 and stayed for 5 nights, very attentive staff and good service, walkable to Mall Road yet quiet and serene- definitely recommended

I loved my stay there, it was cozy. I loved chilling in my room with a beautiful view, the staff was welcoming as well. I highly recommend it.

The Elgin Darjeeling was a lovely heritage hotel and the hotel had vintage colonial furniture and decor so the ambience was excellent , good friendly staff , good preparation of food nice location except parking was very tight and no place to walk overall pleasant and good stay

Our stay at Hotel Elgin, Darjeeling had its good moments, but overall, it didn’t fully meet our expectations, especially considering the price. The property itself has a charming, heritage feel and the staff were polite and responsive when we raised concerns. On the first day, however, we were given a very small and poorly maintained room, with cleanliness issues including cockroaches on the bed...something we brought to the manager’s attention. Thankfully, the hotel promptly shifted us to a bigger, cleaner room the next day, which had a nice view and was much more comfortable. While the surroundings and the ambience of the hotel are quite nice, the food was disappointing. Breakfast lacked variety, with repetitive South Indian dishes and sandwiches made from bread that didn’t seem very fresh Overall, while we appreciated the heritage atmosphere and the staff’s willingness to address problems, the experience didn’t feel worth the high prices charged. A little more attention to room quality and food would make a big difference.

Lovely hotel with lots of history and charm. Rooms were very well apportioned and comfortable. Staff were friendly and attentive, food and tea was good.

Hotel is near the mall road just a stair away and has a very great view of the hills. Hotel has different places to chill out. People can spend their time chilling out with indoor games. All the staffs of hotel is very polite and their first priority is customer happiness. Just the bathroom need to be updated.

Our stay for two days is simply excellent

The hotel is elegant with heritage spelt all the way. The location is excellent and layout superb. The room was large and airy, the bathroom like a football field. However the view was that of a dilapidated old building, a bit depressing, especially since my booking specified city view. Food was average at best, the restaurant staff were good. The hotel took judiciousness in providing materials in the room very seriously. It was funny to see a single piece of cotton pad and three four tissues provided in the room. Not withstanding these minor issues, it was a very comfortable stay.

Excellent location hardly 5 mins walk from the mall, seeped in old world colonial charm which transports one to bygone times. Extremely clean and well maintained property. The entire staff were extremely welcoming and polite. Special thanks to mr jason subba, mr prashant and mr ashok who made our stay pleasurable.

The staff was as warm and cordial as one would wish it to be. The food was excellent, and so was the service. Everyone did their utmost to ensure that our stay was made as comfortable and luxurious as possible. The hotels that we stayed at after our visit to The Elgin all paled in comparison. It was a lovely experience.

We have been staying at the elgin, darjeeling regularly for the last 4 years during december. It’s like a “home away from home” for us as we simply love the comfortable stay, ambience and the courteous staff. The mall is also a short 5-minute walk away.
