Review for The Hostellers, Upper Tapovan Our experience at The Hostellers, Upper Tapovan was nothing short of pathetic and utterly disappointing. We had booked a Jacuzzi room expecting a comfortable and premium stay, but what followed was a complete nightmare. Right after check-in, we discovered that the jet spray in the washroom wasn’t working, which had to be replaced later. The curtain clips were broken, and one curtain was missing entirely, leaving the room exposed and shabby. However, the real shock came in the evening when we wished to use the Jacuzzi — the main reason we had chosen this room. To our disbelief, there was no hot water supply, as the boiler was not ready. We were told hot water was available only through the shower via a geyser, which completely defeated the purpose of booking a Jacuzzi room. When we raised this concern with the manager, is casual and indifferent attitude made the experience even worse. He simply said that the property runs on a boiler system, though nowhere was it mentioned during booking or check-in that the Jacuzzi’s functionality depends on the boiler’s readiness or temperature. To add insult to injury, when we demanded a refund, we were asked to check out at 8 p.m., despite being three female travelers. This was highly unprofessional and insensitive. Adding to the frustration, the receptionist blatantly lied, claiming the manager was unavailable — while he was, in fact, right there. Overall, this was one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve ever had. I would strongly advise against booking their Jacuzzi room or trusting their advertised amenities. The property’s lack of transparency, poor maintenance, and unprofessional staff behavior make it completely unworthy of its name or price.

My stay in the private room was excellent - it was well-maintained, clean, and the bathroom was quite spacious. As a solo traveler, I loved that there were plenty of daily activities organized, making it both fun and convenient to explore the area. The property is surrounded by some of the best cafes, adding to the charm. Note: This property is located on a steep hill, so you’ll need to take an Activa taxi to get up with your luggage. Also, they do not accomodate early check in , perhaps that’s one area with room for improvement . Overall, i had a very pleasant stay.

Pathetic Services

The Check In Service was pathetic, No Visitor Toilets, No Parking Facilities, Nowhere it was mentioned as there will be a private bathroom, Basic Amenities was not provided like Towels, Soap or Anything, A Balcony view was promised but unfortunately the only view i had was building infront of me, It was mentioned as no smoking and drinking but everybody was smoking a joint

During your check-in, you had requested an early check-in, which was not possible as it is always subject to availability. Additionally, our hostel has two common washrooms available for guest use. Please note that a room with a view was neither promised nor mentioned on any of our booking platforms. i stayed here for one night, the rooms and dorms were spacious, bit uncomfortable to get on the upper bed. it had all the amenities, bathroom was quite cleaner as compared to other hostels. the cafe was cool, it had books, games and food. loved the views, but the road to hostel is pathetic. Cons - It is quite disturbing at night specially during weekends, people play loud music till late night (need some rules here) but thankfully Also the check-in and check-out experience was quite smooth. .
