“Unsafe Stay – Strangers Tried to Open Our Room at Midnight”

I recently stayed at this hotel with my wife during our trip to Kanyakumari. Unfortunately, it turned into We booked a Premium Double Room and checked in at 9 AM. After sightseeing the whole day, we returned to our room at night. Around 11:30 PM, someone tried to open our door using a key. My wife was terrified. I asked who it was, but they did not reply and kept trying to open the door for nearly 3 minutes. I called the reception multiple times, but no one answered. The people outside were shouting loudly in Tamil and roaming the floors the whole night. We couldn’t sleep the entire night because of fear. The next morning, the reception casually told us that about 50 men had checked in, and since they were not properly guided to their rooms, they might have tried opening ours “by mistake.” This is unacceptable. If the hotel management knows a large group is checking in, it is their responsibility to escort them and maintain discipline instead of letting them disturb other guests. This was supposed to be a peaceful trip for us, but the lack of security, irresponsible staff, and no control over noisy guests made it a nightmare. I strongly do not recommend this hotel to families or couples. Safety and basic hospitality were completely missing.

At Hotel Jeyam, we give the highest importance to the safety and comfort of all our guests. To clarify, no unauthorized persons were allowed inside the property. Only our registered guests were present. During your stay, a large family group (around 50 members including elders and children) had also checked in. You were allocated the Premium Room first, and the remaining rooms on the same floor were later allotted to this family group. After returning from sightseeing at night, some members of the group mistakenly tried to open the wrong room door, which led to the disturbance you experienced. For your assurance, room keys are issued only to registered guests, and no spare keys are kept with anyone other than management. Security staff and room attendants were also available to guide guests. We regret that despite our reminders to maintain silence, the presence of such a large family may have caused inconvenience to you. Please accept our sincere apologies. Calling our guests “uneducated” may not be fair, as they were family on pilgrimage.

The hotel was perfectly fine. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. However, if you're looking to be close to the beach or other main attractions, this might not be the best choice. We found ourselves relying on taxis or long walks to get everywhere.

Stay was good, but one disappointment we faced was during check out after submitting the keys, the receptionist asked the room boy to go and check the room, the unwelcoming stare that was given by the room boy (man) made us uncomfortable and the receptionist was aware of the issue as I asked him why the person gave that stare. I would like to suggest the management to train their staff to behave with their guests. I wud rate the stay 3/5

The hotel is an old property but maintained neatly. Solar operated hot water came through both taps of the bathroom. This made our experience terrible as we did not get cold water to mix and take bath.

Location is good. We stayed at 301 room number. But they charged 300 rs extra for early check in. There was an issue with the cold water line, because cold water line was delivering geyser hot water and hot water was also delivering hot water. Rest was good. Kanyakumari was fully crowded during christmas holidays.
