I had terrible experience

I recently stayed at a property listed as Bohemian Hostel, but upon arrival, I discovered that the actual name is Bombay Hostel. This was quite misleading, as there is no signboard anywhere—neither on the street nor inside the building—that mentions either Bohemian or Bombay Hostel. This caused confusion not just for me but also for my cab driver, who dropped me off on the road with no clear direction. I had to ask locals to find the exact location. The hostel is located in an old building (around 25-26 years old) and is situated on the 13th floor. When you finally reach it, the first impression is unfortunately not great. The place feels shady, poorly lit, and lacks proper cleanliness. The washrooms were not well-maintained, with a persistent damp odor, and the common areas lacked hygiene. The management was indifferent throughout my stay. For example, I lost a brand-new pair of slippers inside the hostel and received no help or concern from the staff. When I inquired about basic necessities like where to find milk, the management had no idea—yet I later found a grocery shop right next to the building. On a slightly positive note, the location is in Park Street, which means food options are plentiful, and transportation (cabs, battery rickshaws, etc.) is easily available. However, these conveniences are more due to the area than the hostel itself. In comparison to other hostels—such as CCU in Topsia—this property feels unmaintained and impersonal. The atmosphere is uninviting, and as a guest, you may feel isolated or left out. In summary: • Misleading name and poor signage • Unhelpful management • Unclean washrooms & poor maintenance • Good location with easy access to food and transport • Overall disappointing experience I stayed for two nights. One day felt manageable, but overall, I would not recommend this hostel unless major improvements are made, especially in terms of hospitality, cleanliness, and communication.

The stay was okay but not great. It's located in a residential building, which didn't feel like a proper guest setup.No toiletries provided as mentioned while booking. vNo bed cover and bedsheet was provided.toilet definitely needs improvement – it wasn’t well-maintained, and old soaps and shampoo bottles were left there for what looked like ages. The AC was turned off in the morning, and there was no fan available, which made it quite uncomfortable. Also, the bunk bed was very shaky – even a slight movement would cause it to wobble a lot. Overall, not a very satisfying experience.

It was completely a terrible place which is occupied a lots of drunk people..those who want a peace a good sleep it is not for them.. I stay there just before a night of exam, to get a good sleep and appear for early morning exam..trust me whole night was a party, alcohol smoking full volume song all was there..I couldn't not sleep properly because one of my roommate got drunken and everyone whenever they want just entering and talking..no curtains no privacy..I wl never suggest for those people who r just visiting for genuine purpose..

It was a pleasant stay. The group was good. For the price charged it had a really good amenities. Really close to park street and esplanade shopping area.

it was good the people ofcourse but the place is something different from the photos but the people were trust worthy and the view was amazing of 42 building

I had a great experience there ,this hostel is not just a hostel it feels like our own home.The host is also so friendly

The place needs to become a bit more tidier and the washroom needs some maintenance. The flush was leaking whereas there was spider web next to the bed.

The hostel is located at the prime location in the city, where you can go for pub hoping, shopping, walking, exploring food etc...even at night. The main tourist spots victoria memorial, st.pauls cathedral church, New market, Mother teresa home, princep ghat etc..are also near to the place. But the hostel is at 14th floor of the building and the lift will take lot time to reach. The rooms are ok ok , not very great. You are lucky if you get the lower bed, otherwise you have to climb few steps to get into the upper beds which is not very convenient every time. The bathroom is also average, which is attached inside the femalr dorm, but bathroom wall is shared with common wash room as well, which is bit uncomfortable as the top portion is just covered with a curtain.

I and my 4 friends stayed at bohemian backpackers, kolkata, for 2 nights during christmas, and it was an amazing experience. The behavior of the staff was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable, making it a perfect choice for a group of friends on a vacation trip to kolkata. The location of the property is another highlight. It is conveniently situated, with easy access to many attractions, restaurants, and transportation options. This made exploring the city hassle-free and enjoyable. Overall, bohemian backpackers is a fantastic place to stay for anyone visiting kolkata, whether with friends or solo. Highly recommended!
