HARSHIT KUMAR
One of the wonderful and surprising stay. Being a frequent Himachal traveler, we chose this place as we wanted to experience the home of the authentic Himalayan village and believe me, we were not disappointed. I am going to pen down this review in detail as this was their first booking from Makemytrip and also, I wanted to leave genuine but personal feedback. Owner Nirmal Negi and family of three people. Home-cooked food and even local food can be cooked by the host on request. - Negi is 3rd generation Himachali kinnauri family owns apple and plum orchards and Negi even helps people learn about apple and plum cultivation. - Location is 12 km away in Kais village of Kullu district away from hustle and bustle of the crazy tourist traffic. Negi feels proud to host guests with his heritage and explain how things work in the old Himachali village They offered me a tour in their apple orchards and apple-nursery (family sells apple trees to high altitude farmers). Also, we did a village tour of Kais, stopping by a house on the hills, they offered us chai in the chill weather made of goat’s milk. It was good to see these contentious living life in hills instead of us living another day. My wife wanted to see the snow, Mr. Negi hired a gypsy, and we took the road that's broken towards bird forest and reached snow point in 45 minutes. We wanted to camp in the forest sanctuary but the temperature was almost negative, though we are adventure seekers, It was too cold for our liking, so we came back and before we even reached home-stay, open bone-fire welcomes us with a chai. Wine-shop is just next door, so I did enjoy the rum instead of chai. Other facilities on offer were: guided tour of the Kais Buddhist monastery that’s is one of his kind in lower Himalayas. Jeep tour of Bijli Mahadev Temple. (It’s for the adventure-seeking where 4x4 jeep goes to the rough terrain driven by Negi himself. Believe me how dangerous this road is. Leh-Ladakh adventure-seeking junkies will not make yearly runs if they do it once. Take my word for it. Camping by the natural spring ponds sin summers. Guided tours and trek to higher altitude areas like pin-Parvati etc. Negi owns a travel agency called Nomad Adventures that organizes adventure and trekking activities in Himachal. Being close to the monastery, one can experience the Tibetan cuisine nearby if they fancy.
