The Denmark Tavern

The essence of Danish Culture with a fusion of Indianness is just mesmerising. Clearly, one of the best locations to stay in Serampore, Kolkata. It has a beautiful view of Ganges just as you step out of the property. The hospitality is truly commendable. Special mention to the leader of the troop (Mr. JyotirMoy Sarkar) who has been excellent throughout my stay with his family like team.

Food & ambience at the property’s restaurant was very good; property location was amazing

Excellent ambiance which reminds us of the time when the Danes came to India and ser up this Tavern. The architecture of the building has been designed with utmost precision. The hospitality and food was par excellence

I recently visited the Denmark Tavern for a night with my family . We stayed at the spacious Deluxe suite room ( River breeze) at the ground floor. The room condition was pathetic, dampened walls, shabbily painted , the upholstery of the sofa, the seating areas and the carpets were not cleaned and had stains. The room also had a staunched smell probably due to poor ventilation and the dampened walls. However, the service and the food was good. The staffs were polite. Overall, considering it’s a restored heritage building and fairly newly constructed and inaugurated in 2018, it has not been maintained well. I was expecting it to be very well maintained as the hospitality management is by The ‘Park hotel group’. Extremely average stay.

Ambience & behaviour of the employees are really good. Rooms are clean & spacious. Everything there been organised focus-sing it's historical background. We of course enjoyed our stay.

The room exceeded all expectations. It was spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully designed. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with soft, high-quality linens and pillows that made it hard to leave. The bathroom was like a spa retreat with a rain shower, and luxurious toiletries

While the property was excellent and the staff extremely courteous, there are a few line items they could have a look at and improve, namely the under mentioned, specifically in *the green shuttered suite* : 1. The split a. C(without a remote) was not efficient since there was no option of reducing or increasing the temp. 2. The drainage in the wash basin was not smooth. 3. Towards the end of my stay, i could not access any of the paid ott platforms for viewing movies since their subscription had lapsed ! 4. Better salt & pepper containers required in their restaurant since the existing ones could hardly do the job

The hotel was nice but seemed a little disorganised. It was near the river but most rooms did not have a view. The food was good and the service was satisfactory.

Serene stay with amazing food. Loved the restoration work that has been done it has upped the old world charm. It was perfect :) the choice of interiors, and the humble service staff with impeccable service that we received just made our stay super relaxing

Has a old world charm for sure, the high walls, ceilings, windows. That's about it. The service is ok ok. The lobby outside the room becomes a common place for people from the restaurant and otherwise people would knock on your door and ring the bell, there's no privacy. The hotel also doesn't do anything about it. There's absolutely nothing for the price they charge, neither service, nor room amenities.

I took my family on our marriage anniversary day. My son did not like the location at first. Then we checked in the hotel. We were given the best room available. We could see the view of hoogly river from the room itself. The room was very good. Food was also good but very few options for vegetarian people. In short, it was a very good stay at denmark tavern
