One of the best stays I’ve had the pleasure of spending my leisure time. This is a one of kind heritage homes that should be ranked amongst the best in the world. The decir, service, staff, aesthetics, everything was exceptional. I have already decided to come back one day and bringing more people to stay and experience this gem of a home

A home stay that is just as it’s in the photographs. Beautiful home with apt landscaping and a warm and helpful team of people. I recommend not to miss the breakfast that is prepared with same love and effort that a mother puts in for her children.

As i traveled alone as a women this stay was so protected and felt so much comfort and safe. Much recommend for ladies gang tour.

Kariappa house is a contemporary masterpiece, having its colonial elements integrated with modern appliances. The house was located in the city, yet it was calm and it connected us with nature, the pool was so relaxing. The caretakers are great. Our room g2 was a studio type which was a different experience in itself. Jazzy girl is a delight (they have pets. The breakfast was humble home food, don't look hotel like options. Overall it's one of best stays i've been.

The property was amazing and serene. Mukesh was very helpful and his assistance was best for planning local trips and availing other services. I would recommend this place if you want to have the best time in pondicherry.

Our exp was ok! there were so many mosquitos and no basic emenities in the homestay. The food for breakfast was limited to bread, croissant, jam, butter, peanut butter, coffee, fruits, small idlis. That too served at 8:30am. Everything was ok and bearable but i was expecting a good breakfast, morning tea and toothpaste. The only thing that i rotated in our two day stay was that someone use to bang our door around 11 o clk. It was the next door guys which really gave us a heart attack. It was good that mukesh the caretaker is there to help- and yes the pool is really good and property is clean.

Very homely experience . Excellent services with minimum staff. Highly hygienic . Meditation Ashram like feeling during the whole stay. 🙏

Poor location too much inside. Fir car traveller big issue, every time you forget your way narrow lanes but nearby pondy marina beach

Kariappa house is a gem of a find in pondicherry but first, please note that this is not a hotel, so do not treat it as such. It is a warm and welcoming home with wonderful people, an adorable dog and home-like guidelines for a relaxing stay for all guests. If you like big buffets, loud groups with blaring music, an anything goes attitude, and everything else that comes with a hotel stay, this is not the place for you. Coming to the experience, we stayed at this serene escape for four nights in a beautifully appointed room with a spacious bathroom on the first floor. Breakfast was simple and delicious south indian fare. The staff are incredible - ramji, dilip and every one else is so eager to help you every step of the way. Book the pool in advance for your personal swim experience and don't forget to say hi to jazzy the labrador! highly recommend and we cannot wait to visit again!

The place is beautiful, and stay was really nice. It was the cleanest place ever, with beautiful plants, pools, and peaceful. Food was excellent, and it really did feel like a home. Only thing is, the receptionist and caretaker simply don’t smile, and don’t seem welcoming. It’s a small thing, but it matters. Although they are more than helpful

My stay was very pleasant, courteous and helpful staff. The breakfast was delicious, maybe more food items can be added for breakfast and other meals. The propriety is so well preserved is a perfect blend of modern and old. The pool is beautiful and perfect length pool. Thank you for my 4 nights stay.

Kariappa house is a beautiful place to stay at. The structure and the woodwork is just so mesmerizing. The rooms are very well decorated and ramoji was very helpful. The pool space was a very relaxing time. The slot system made it private and nice.

Beautiful property ! but service disappoints ! people have been raving about kariappa house with its very instagramable pool and all, i decided to go ahead and book it. Didn’t really read up too much on the website, just skimmed through and everything looked picture perfect. No doubt everything is picture perfect, only when you enter the property. I was driving and found myself in tiny lanes and by the time we made it to the property my heart sank. My friend’s face was white ! the parking is opposite the property and we were asked to park there. After the drive, we weren’t sure so we asked to check the rooms before we checked in. The rooms are old world, pretty, well appointed bathrooms, really gorgeous, but the overpowering smell of lemongrass gave me an instant headache ! the manager mr dileep checked us in very unceremoniously and as we were being led to our room, we were asked to take off our footwear and wear slippers that belonged to the hotel. Slippers that have been used by god knows a thousand other guests. Dileep said it’s the “ rule “ of the property and we aren’t allowed to wear our footwear that we use outside. I thought it was a covid thingy and asked him if it was and he said no it’s always been the rule and we have to oblige ! i told him that i refuse to wear footwear that’s been worn by so many people ( and worn out too ) and that i would wear my house slippers that i have in my bags. Apparently it’s on their website, but like i said i hadn’t read it thoroughly, my bad ! the food is very good, home style, served by the ladies. Sweet and courteous. The setting is amazing. Could be any tropical place on the world. Beautiful pool. It’s a lap pool, so one will have to book a slot to use it. Next day my friend and i had booked for watsu sessions at auroville. So we packed our things, i did not have a towel and therefore i took my used towel from the hotel room. My friend had a towel with her so she didn’t take the one from the room ! the towel ( old & tattered btw) was in plain sight and as we were heading out, one of the ladies gestured to the manager and just as were exiting to the road he stopped us and he said we can’t take the towel. I explained the situation to him that we were going for our water treatment and i don’t have a towel, so therefore i’d like to take it and bring it back. He refused and used the “ rule “ word again. I told him i ll leave a 500 rs deposit with him for the towel or even 1000 rs, but he didn’t budge at all. He asked me to leave the towel and go. I then told him, if i had wanted to smuggle the towel ( wish is old and tattered i must say ) out i could have without anyone noticing and i didn’t want do that. I had to go looking to buy a towel in those narrow streets and ended up buying one which barely soaked up water because it was brand new ! i am also in the hospitality business. I run a similar guesthouse near dindigul. If my staff were to come across a situation like this, they would have very nicely told the guest to go ahead and take the towel but bring it back without fail. We have a lake and waterfall by our resort and guests frequently take towels and bring them back. It’s basic courtesy that the hotel must allow. I am really miffed with the managers attitude at karaippa house. He’s unsmiling, rude and unpleasant! 10 points to the property. If i could negative points for the service of the manager then i would. I hope the management takes necessary steps and makes sure their staff are polite and smiling to say the least !

It was a wonderful stay! cozy place and warm hosts, couldn’t ask for more. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the pool was clean too! had a great time! would definitely visit again. However, would’ve liked a good breakfast spread. It was the only thing that wasn’t impressive. Ramji, that caretaker, of the place was amazing! he ensured the stay was super comfortable and was always available for anything and everything we wanted during the stay there.

The ambience is amazing. Very good place to stay. Rooms are spacious and the entire place gives a very serene feeling.
