I genuinely expected a better experience from a hotel that claims to be 4-star. Unfortunately, several concerns made the stay quite disappointing: 1. Lack of Basic Amenities Despite being positioned as a 4-star property, the hotel does not provide basic room slippers during winter. When asked, the staff mentioned it’s only available for premium suite guests. This was surprising, especially since even standard 3-star hotels offer such essentials during the colder months. 2. Extremely Slow Housekeeping Housekeeping response time was unreasonably slow. Any request made at night was either addressed the next morning or forgotten entirely. Repeated calls often went unanswered, making the service feel unreliable. 3. Information About the Pool , the hotel lists the pool as temperature-controlled. However, it clearly wasn’t. When questioned, the hotel simply asked me to take it up. This lack of accountability was disappointing. 4. Higher GST Charges While GST on food has been reduced across India, the property still charges 18% citing a related to room tariff being above ₹7,500. Guests should be made clearly aware of this in advance. 5. Poor Bathroom Maintenance The bathrooms were not well maintained—noticed both in the room and in the common washroom near the restaurant. Individually these might seem like minor issues, but collectively they significantly affect the overall experience, making it difficult to justify even an average rating. ⸻ Positives About the Property 1. Excellent location—very close to Digha Science City. 2. The swimming pool is clean and well maintained. 3. Food tastes good, though the pricing is definitely on the higher side.

A Gilded Cage Called Antique Regency – Never Again! ⭐☆☆☆☆

I don’t usually write reviews, but my stay at Antique Regency deserves a warning label for future guests. From the moment I arrived, I was lured by the promise of “two luxurious swimming pools.” Sounds nice, right? Except—surprise!—they’re purely decorative. You can look at them, maybe take a photo if you enjoy capturing your disappointment, but don’t even think about swimming. They might as well have put up signs saying “For Display Only.” Once inside, I quickly realized I wasn’t checking into a resort—I was checking into confinement. The entire place gives off the vibe of a very pretty house arrest. The gates close, and you instantly lose your freedom. Want to step out for a walk or a quick bite nearby? Forget it. You can leave only when you’re checking out, as if your “sentence” is up. The atmosphere is heavy, the staff indifferent, and every hour inside feels longer than it should. By the end of my stay, I wasn’t relaxed—I was relieved to escape. If you enjoy being trapped in an ornate cage with decorative pools you can’t touch, this is your dream destination. For everyone else: consider yourself warned.

It was a nice one day stay, rooms were clean. We had veg Bengali lunch, it was very impressive. However, they allocated one bottle per room, I didn’t understand this, everything you need to dial reception to refill it 🤣. Secondly, breakfast standard is not good. Games room requires renovation

Would not recommend if you expect proper hygiene and a courteous reception experience

Stayed at Antique Regency from 11th October to 12th October. The veg food tasted good, but the Pomfret fish fry was below average. The complementary breakfast had many options but except the orange juice, the taste of most items was just average. I booked a deluxe room, but the room quality did not match the category at all. The balcony was dirty, and shockingly, a used cloth from a previous guest was left there, which was very unhygienic. The room had a damp smell, and even after requesting a room freshener spray, the odor remained. The room service staff were polite and responsive, but at the reception, while one lady staff member was well mannered, the male staff was indifferent and not welcoming. They are very strict about checkout timing, but slow in generating the final bill, which caused unnecessary delay during departure.
