Johannesburg, The City Of Gold is now one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Africa, with plenty of stark contrasts and diverse cultures that dynamically co-exist within it. By African standards, this city is quite modern and the sights here include the Museum Africa, which offers a direct look at the nation's sometimes troubled past, and the Market Theatre Complex, which houses theatres and a Saturday flea market. Also visit the Oriental Plaza, a centre for the ethnic Indian population. Check out the fossils at the Sterkfontein Caves, visit Gold Reef City - the old Johannesburg Gold Mine, as well as the several game reserves and breeding stations, such as De Wildt Cheetah Research Station, the Hartebeespoort Dam and the Heia Safari Ranch, where tribal dancers perform.
