Roinam Retreat

We arrived at 1.10 PM from Guwahati on 27/08/2025. All rooms are empty except our two rooms C-3&C-4. Generator service is poor. Lake is not seen clearly due to jungle. Service is so so.

The experience was okayish and average. We opted for the deluxe tent. The only issue we faced was the frequent electricity cuts. There is a room for improvement in the food menu option, which we felt is limited.

The stay was amazing. The tents were clean and hygienic and location is extremely peaceful and scenic. The food quality is very good.

property is good behavior of staff is even better good parking space and neat and cozy rooms 5/5 for me suggestion:- need activities or else kids get bored tv in tents is a must , please look into the possibility

Roinam Retreat – Strong Location, but a Serious Safety Concern Date of stay: Night of July 5 → July 6, 2025 Booked: Two rooms (one tent) for six women 🚩 Our Experience (Worst Stay) On the night of July 5, my wife and five of her friends stayed at Roinam Retreat. They had booked two rooms, including a safari-style tent. After dinner, three of them moved into the tent, only to find: • No external lighting anywhere around the tent area • No lighting inside the tent • Their calls to the hotel’s phone numbers went unanswered • When they rang the staff’s mobile and knocked on their room door, the phone audible ringing could be heard from outside — yet no one responded This was not only distressing but potentially dangerous, particularly for a group of women staying together. They felt completely isolated and unsafe. I strongly advise others to steer clear of Roinam Retreat if safety and staff responsiveness matter to you. 🛑 Final Word (Especially for Women Travelers) If you’re considering Roinam Retreat: • Be cautious if booking the safari tent option — especially in groups or for solo female travellers. • Confirm ahead of time about night-time lighting and availability of inside tent telephones. • If you’ve already booked, request a nearby cottage instead of a tent. Despite its scenic setting and relaxation potential, the lack of response and lighting—especially from the staff—makes this property risky. For safety reasons alone, consider other nearby lodging options around Umiam Lake.

The location, food and the cottages were good, but there was no air conditioner and it got hotter during the day.

Location was good but no security and staff person was roaming drunk having risk of safety. Food quality is poor.

Food is not upto the mark, amenities and services are great, mattress is not that good

Roinam Retreat is a place in touch with nature but with modern amenities. I found it's quaint little cottages perched atop little sloppy mounts really charming. waking up to the sounds of chirping birds was heavenly. The food is tasty...fresh and taste like homemade . Breakfast buffet is good and would be really nice if more varieties are added and alternated everymorning since for those staying more than two nights it becomes repetitive. The staff is courteous and helpful...especially Vishnu who is very resourceful and ever ready to help out . This retreat is located off the main road so it's convenient to have your own vehicle .If not also, the retreat management arranges it if needed. All in all , I would recommend it if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful stay with homely ,fresh and tasty food.

Food was good,location was good and serene facilities can be better as the breakfast was serve and it was not cover properly and no one is present to take care.

The stay was good but overall I feel it was not worth the money I paid. However we u understand that it was location price that u paid and the same thing happened across Meghalaya. If you stay for at least 5-6 hours then it is worth the money but if you reach late just to sleep it’s not. So plan trip accordingly.

Location is a bit outskirts of Shillong city,but located by the side of Umium lake surrounded by natural greeneries. Good staff & service. Food is ok.

Roinam retreat is a splendid experience. The property ambience is surreal. The deluxe tents were clean and cosy. The food was homely and delicious. The behaviour of the staff was excellent. Indeed a true value for money..

Location was beautiful. Rooms were clean. They provided homely food. Services were quick. The reception guy provided us with medicine when required for my child. Overall pleasant stay.

Absolutely amazing, staff is very helpful and friendly, enjoyed every second of my stay here. Must visit.

First of all the food was horrible, after some instructions from our side it was a bit better. The mattress was in bad condition, no telephone in the room..i mean amenities is almost nil. But the service provided by the staff were satisfactory. Overall experience..🤔🤔 not worthy enough in compare to the room fare. Expected better service after paying high room fare.

It was a beautiful experience to stay at Roinam Retreat. The staff is really helpful and polite. You will get homely food over here and the property is amidst of pristine nature. Highly recommend everyone
