Old building not maintained properly, fungus and mold on the wall, room has wet moldy smell, walls chipped, ceiling cracked, plug points not working, the only positive point is good location, I will not go there again

Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) The location of the hotel is definitely a plus — it’s right in the city and conveniently situated behind the Periyar forest reserve booking counter. The exterior looks decent, and the staff were courteous and helpful throughout our stay. However, the stay itself was quite disappointing. The bed was unusually small and made loud creaking noises with even the slightest movement, making it hard to get a restful sleep. The floor felt sticky and didn’t seem properly cleaned, and the room’s overall condition wasn’t great — wall paint was chipped and peeling in several places. The most alarming issue was the bathroom window, which had no glass pane — just an open frame. This allowed a large lizard to enter our room while we were sleeping, which was both scary and unacceptable from a safety and hygiene standpoint. Overall, the hotel has potential due to its location and staff, but it seriously needs maintenance and better cleanliness standards. Not recommended unless major improvements are made.

I booked an AC room with breakfast at Hotel White Wood Thekkady for a family trip, but it turned into a nightmare. There was no electricity in the room. No AC, no fan, no proper lighting—just one small bulb barely lighting up the space. None of the plug points worked, so we couldn’t even charge our phones. At 11 PM, with no help from the staff, we had to sleep on the sofas in the reception area with our family for over an hour—it was extremely uncomfortable and unacceptable. Only after that did the hotel shift us to a non-AC room, where at least the fan worked. But we ended up spending the night in a non-AC room after paying for AC. No apology, no refund, no basic courtesy. Next morning, we were told that breakfast was over and even milk was finished. I had to go out and buy milk just so they could prepare coffee. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. Very poor management and lack of basic amenities. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

It was a really good stay for me and my mother. Rooms were quite spacious and food given to us was from their restaurent outside the hotel which was really good.

Room- spacious, clean bathrooms, bed enough for 3 people, 24 hrs Hot Water availability, free and fast wifi.... Location - In Main town with good parking, walkable distance to Periyar Boating center, many good restaurants and shops nearby.... Safety- Feel like home... Free complimentary breakfast All these for very reasonable price. A must try hotel in Thekkady Friendly staffs....even given us more time for check out.

White fort hotel pricing was better than other hotels. It is also close to nearby tourist attractions.
