The Driftwood Ladakh

This is a professionally managed place, though the quality of the hotel leaves much to be desired sag maintenance is not up to the mark. The saving grace is their tie up with club mahindra and we being club mahindra members have access to the two staff of the property who are in sync with club mahindra - devashish wadhera and puneesh. They help in effortlessly organizing the complete ladakh tour till drop off to srinagar, that's a big plus point. It's expensive, but a good arrangement. They also organize all the inner permits required for the tour. The weak link here is the driver who enc-ashed midway on return leg to leh and his driver finished the trip at srinagar drop off for the balance amount, whereas the deal was the entire amount to be paid at srinagar drop off. There are reasons for this kind of unprofessional - but they are just that "excuses, excuses. A big blow to tall claims of devashish. The restaurant here is average not up to club mahindra standards.

I booked a room in this hotel looking at the reviews from others but i don't understand the reason for such good rating. I have several reasons to give this property zero star but unfortunately, the lowest i can rate it is 1-star. Below are a few reasons why this property doesn't cut it at all: price: too high, there are other 4-star properties with much less pricing, but i booked this one expecting it to be the better of the lot. Ambience: once we enter the hotel, we were immediately disappointed, it looks more like a 2-star hotel with sub-par interiors. The garden isn't maintained at all and the flooring is coming off in several places. The common restroom is really dingy and feels more like a public toilet. Rooms: the room was ok, but the bathroom (oh man) - there weren't even any tiles in the bathrooms. The walls were extremely damp because of which the paint was coming off in the whole bathroom (even in the room on the wall adjoining the bathroom. Not sure if it was just me, but i noticed that all the toilet rolls were half used (not even a single full rolls either in the common restroom or in the room bathrooms, i wonder why. Service: the service was bad, i asked for a double blanket instead of the 2 single ones available because i wanted to ensure my 5-year old kid is well covered while sleeping - i didn't get it. Restaurant: was it a restaurant? it looked more like a dhaba. We had the breakfast included in the package, but it was not good at all. I had to go out and have breakfast. There are other reasons as well, but i think the above ones are the major ones. I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone at all.

The location of the property is great but the lawns and the property in general is not well maintained. The room cleanliness could have been much better. There were a lot of hair on the carpet as well as around the bed and mattress

Staff is nice. I had to leave early in the morning and the potter was there at 4am to carry the luggage

This is a excellent hotel but little away from Leh. But they provide you a excellent service and view. They have excellent property.

Very supportive staff and huge rooms with electric blanket.

We stayed in the hotel just a day before they were shutting down for winter but they still gave that is something exceptional in a place like Leh.
View from the room was breathtaking and food was good and in budget with respect to other places in the area. Also the staff made full efforts to make our stay amazing.

Nothing was perfect, poor location, minimum choice of food, don't talk about service, as there was no service at all.
The driftwood hotel Leh, this was the worse hotel I have ever stayed in.

Don't hire bikes on rent from driftwood and doesn't matter if you ride that for 5 kilometers or 50 kilometers or you get it fueled by yourself, you will have to pay them extra for petrol. Chilly chicken was frozen and hence was difficult to eat, rate for plain curd and for a simple chai or coffee you can expect them to charge you more, I would only recommend chicken or vegetarian biryani at this hotel. Rooms are OK with basic amenities but good heating system, room service from restaurant was good but late, housekeeping was delayed and don't expect anybody at reception after 11 PM till morning.

Lovely surroundings. Out of the way and peaceful. We were the only guests on one night and that was a little unsettling. The staff was warm and helpful but they could do with some more luxury traveler exposure.
Wish the wifi was better. Also little touches of professionalism can take this hotel a long way.

The hotel is located in right place but the service needs a lot of work. IT is a new property. The food is very COSTLY. Be ready to pay 90 for a cup of cutting Chai. Problem is there is no nearby place for any kind of food or snacks. The hotel is taking advantage of this.
