If you are a someone who's just looking for a place to spend your vacation, Wild Planet isn't bad. But, this place is a complete let down if you are a wildlife enthusiast! This property is located in a tea plantation and although there is some forest cover a small distance away from the property, the plantation itself is completely surrounded by electric fencing. We neither saw nor heard any wildlife throughout our stay here and this place is named "Wild Planet Jungle Resort"! It is definitely the most sterile "jungle resort" I have ever experienced. The room we booked was called 'Valley View'. The only view we had was of an ugly construction site where the management is in the process of building more structures. For almost Rs. 12, 000 (which was a discounted rate) the room was really badly appointed! A small unit built on the side of the hill and only 20 paces from the neighbouring cottage. Bright maroon curtains and a small bathroom and ridiculous light fixtures were what greeted us when we entered the room. Crazy thing is, the room has been built on the road and any vehicle or person who passes in front of it can has a clear view of the inside, if your curtains are not drawn. But everything wasn't doom and gloom. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. We began receiving directions to the resort a day ahead via whatsapp and sms. The staff very promptly sent us the location and also requested our live location so they could ensure we didn't stray off the correct road. After leaving our vehicle at the parking area 2. 5kms away, we were received warmly and Shaheen, the customer relations manager gave a very detailed briefing of what to expect. The property itself is quite pretty and if you're not big on the "jungle" part of the experience, you'll enjoy your stay. The rooms are clean, although small and are DEFINITELY not worth Rs. 000! On the plus side, the service was good and I think that's what I don't mind paying for.
