Chettinadu Mansion

Quite disappointed with the place. Very poorly maintained. Not suitable for older people. Room is poorly kept, bathroom isn’t up to the mark. Instruction were given to call reception for any needs but there was no phone in the room!! Unfortunately didn’t take pictures of the room only photos of the main area which looks good.

We had the pleasure of staying at Chettinad Mansion in Karaikudi on 1/2 October, 2025 and it was truly a wonderful and memorable experience. The property is a palace with beautifully preserved traditional furniture, and the rooms are peaceful with an ambiance that's beyond imagination. The staff were well-behaved, and the food was great. We also enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I highly recommend Chettinad Mansion to anyone looking for a taste of heritage and hospitality. It's was great staying in such a heritage stay.Good done in and good staffs.accomodation was good and clean.spacacious and if u are a person who want to spend time on yourself it would be the best choice

Staying in a 80 room mansion has a different feeling altogether. This 150 yr old mansion with only 8 rooms for guests is an amazing experience. It carries a lot of history and well maintained now, good food and service. You get to experience the royalty which the Chettiars had during the glory days.

Stay was ok, but there’s no television in the room any other entertainment or activity at the hotel. Food was not up to the mark, Chettinad is famous for its authentic cuisine,but it was like soo normal..

Room and bath rooms are not higienic it is old fashioned. Also bed and cot also not comfortable to sleep. Frequent power cuts disturbed the sleep. Outside halls are very good

The stay was very good. Then mansion is 100 years old so you will feel great staying in there. We had lunch there and that was very tasty. Service also was so superb that you will feel homely. Thanks to Gopaumar , who explained the Chettinad culture and gave an insight to their style

Property was comfortable. The staff were very hospitable . The view of the huge " nagalingam" tree in our balcony took me back in time . Good food ( only on order ). If we forget tp place order in advance , there are not many restaurants around. So need to plan . The Place is Value for money . Only car park is not sufficient if all eight rooms get full .

Chettinad mansion is well designed depicting the rich Chettinad culture and history.Rooms were comfortable and food was slightly over priced,yet it was very tasty.Service and care offered from the team and even the owners staying there was very warm and friendly.Strongly recommend to tourists planning to visit Chettinad area.They can arrange bullock cart and bicycle rides too

Good experience: food was having authentic chettinadu taste. All food prepared with no-ready to cook easy hack. So, good for health. There were bicycles available, and it was good. Services that need to be improved: my check-in time was 12 noon, but there was a 30 minutes delay to get the room. Also, bullock cart ride is not readily available, pool is 1km away and it’s not part of premises, we have to walk & need to manage the key, there is no staff in pool area. The chapathi was having non-veg taste, seems like they cooked in same burner without cleaning. Room & toilet cleanness and hygiene need to be improved a lot. Electric switches were horrible. Power failures were frequent, however power backup will be turned on with a delay of 5 minutes. Considering it’s a village area, overall it was okish for me. But lot of need to be improved considering the cost.

I would say it's a nice place and staff and aesthetics is all top But it's definitely a one time stop only as it's heavy on the pocket but a good experience to compensate for it indeed for a one time experience, where you would get to be a part of the chettiyar house which is so different and serene, no taking away that.

It's an average place. Not worth the money they are collecting. The bathroom we have to climb stairs and the no one responds when we call the reception. Need to keep calling. Thank you

The rooms were stupendous! the place is awesome. People are good. Location is also great. The price of stay is on the higher side but worth it.

There are no facilities, luxuries, parking or food for the money. That much money is too much for this mansion

Heritage building. Very very quite. Excellent food. Staff is polite and service minded. Enjoyed stay.

The stay was pathetic. The rooms are full of dust not cleaned properly. For going rest room every time you need to climb the steps. Balcony place was so slippery and we cannot walk. Bathroom was very untidy with dust everywhere. Ac flow was not good they have kept pedestal fans which is making lot of sounds. No room service and after 9;30 pm no support staff. We paid this huge money to get a painful experience.

Such a beautiful place to stay and experience the culture of chettinad. Calm and blissful. Food is awesome too
