Grand Gurez

This probably is the oldest hotel in gurez. This town doesn’t have 24x7 electricity (only comes in the evening at around 6 till midnight and then at 4am for an hour) and hence you will have to heat water and store in geyser. The food is good and probably the best you can find in that area. That’s the good part. We weren’t given even basic amenities like soap and had to manage the same on our own. The bathroom washrooms aren’t that clean and have plumbing issues. The rooms aren’t cleaned on daily basis. You will be handed over a neat room on the day of checkin and it won’t be cleaned until checkout (we stayed for 2 nights. Don’t if it’s different for longer stays. Overall this is a safe place to stay.

We stayed for 2days. The most important issue was that we booked different room and was given. We paid for higher and received lower. They said they had some difficulty in booking checks. But the owner adjusted amount in our food. Also the issue of plumbing. Overall experience was good. But the man of the show was mr sameer, he was always there to help and serve in best possible way. Best man over there. Food was also good

Gurez is a mesmerizing place there are just a few hotels or homestays. Grand gurez is one such place. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The place is otherwise good considering the remoteness of the place. Don't expect star luxury but place is clean and owner was ex minister in j and k and very helpful. Thankfully gurez is still not frequented much by tourists. I hope it stays that way
