Beautiful sea side antique hotel with sea side rooms and restaurants. Very nice breakfast they serve. Mr. Majnu who is owner of property took personal care of us & we really enjoyed our stay. Cool calm place to relax. Everyone from reception to service boys were really helpful and friendly

This is not just great for it's aesthetic beauty and ancient artifacts but the staff made it all the more fantastic experience. So courteous, polite and ever supporting staff + the ambience here is simply superb. Highly recommended to anyone who wishes to experience tradition with modern luxuries.

Tradition meets modernity in a beautiful setting

familyWhat we greatly appreciated was that while the furnishings were traditional, the amenities were modern and contemporary. Owned by the biggest name in the antiques trade, mr. Majnu, who became a dear friend by the end of our stay, each spacious room is individually designed with artefacts reflecting its character. Alan at front desk and all members of staff were courteous and attentive, ever-ready to help. The location, on the waterfront, is in the heart of the old jew town of mattancherry, with the parades i synagogue and dutch palace a stone’s throw away. Its waterside restaurant is popular with in-house guests and walk-ins alike. Highly recommend this hotel!

Not only is the location of the hotel great, especially during the biennale, but it is simply oozing with art, character and views. It’s almost like living in a museum albeit squeaky clean bathrooms and all modern facilities. The staff is kind and always has a smile on their faces, and the owner takes personal care and attention towards all guests. What’s not to love?

It was a quaint place in a very busy area. The room was quite big and the bathroom was quite artistic and modern. Takes you to a the times bygone with vintage furniture and other sculptures. The place is a visual treat with tastefully decorated rooms, verandahs and every corner of the property.

In retrospect, it is easy to imagine that we simply dreamed this place. Ginger house is an incomparable marvel. We stumbled upon it while browsing antiques in the old town near the temple, and what a discovery. Tucked away behind the museum quality art and artifacts, ginger house consists of a handful of stunning suites, each individually conceived with its own unique charm and cultural reference points. Our room was in the spirit of a chettinad haveli, for example. The suites are centered around a whimsical art-filled garden space culminating in a gracious and welcoming waterfront cafe. All of it stunning. Likewise, the cafe's menu beautifully spotlights local bounty and tradition, and the fresh juices are unforgettable. Finally, though you will be immersed in art, there is no museum stuffiness to ginger house. To the contrary, the attendants are all friendly, gracious and extremely affable. What a dream. Thank you ginger house! we simply loved our stay and cannot wait to come back.
