Chandralayam Homestay

It's just an old Heritage House. Not exactly a heritage hotel, more like a Backpackers Lodge minus full facilities. The bathroom has no shower, and on a rainy cloudy day the solar heater didn't put out any hot water. Bathroom fittings need a major overhaul. The roof had a leak and we had to ask for dustbin, hot water in bucket etc. The breakfast was simple and good. The caretaker Ranjith was very courteous and obliging.

Our stay was not very comfortable. The AC in the room was not functioning properly, and they have not provided booked room. Even in the new room, there was no hot water available, AC issue. Overall, the experience could have been much better with proper maintenance and basic amenities.

First of all check in time not let us in some of the facilities mentioned at the time of booking not provided especially tv wifi not provided to us any wifi provided which doesn't work inside the room Even the AC is not working properly, the water system in the bathroom is also not proper, overall their service is very poor

The location and the size of the property is good. However there are several aspects that made our experience very bad for me to make a choice of 1-terrible experience. One of our booking was a "couple retreat" where i was expecting a double sized bed. The room we were given was a single-bed room. After seeing that, i made booking of a double bed room, paying extra money. In the room we got, the air conditioner (ac) makes noise all time. There is no hot water in any of the rooms. Moreover, the service had been bad, for several reasons 1. The towels given in the rooms were of bad quality. 2. There is no geyser in the room. The shower is broken. 3. The door lock is broken (which is a safety hazard) 4. Served food is very odd. Breakfast and lunch or dinner is included. But in the dinner they provide very little options (one veg, one non veg and chapati. Anything extra is charged. In other homestay we usually get much more options. We ate dal in such bowl because they provided only three bowls for 5 people, that too after asking. Condition of the bathroom. The big concern for us is, the picture shown for the 'couples retreat ' and the actual room offered to us is very different, and is a misinformation

We had made this booking 2 months in advance based on the reviews. The room and cottage photos were given on our booking page. The host contacted us a day in advance to check about our it time for checkin. We reached around 9 pm after a day long tiring journey. The food was supposed to be served by the homestay. To our shock and surprise when we reached there was one storage room size room allocated to us and our cottage was also given to someone else. There was only one person serving the guests. It was an outright cheating. The ac in the cottage was not working. Last by not the least there was no dinner available. The person ordered something from outside with dry uncooked rotis. We got the part refund after a lot of mental stress. As per the host the photos were erroneously mapped to our booking while our rooms were allocated to people booking directly. I recommend that please do not book this property.

It's really nice and affordable price

There were frequent power cuts, the place dint have a generator which he said he had, and need to improve in the food quality

This place is close to bekal fort and few temples nearby. This is a heritage property with coconut, arecanut farm surrounded. The host was very friendly and the food was homely

Very peaceful and comfortable stay indeed. Very happy i booked this place for myself.
