Air Arabia is the largest and first Low Cost Carrier (LCC) in the Middle-East and North Africa region. The airline is committed to providing unsurpassed comfort, reliability and economy on Air Arabia flights. Around 82 different destinations are covered under the flight schedule of the airline. The airline won the prestigious 'Corporate Social Responsibility Award' in 2012 at 2012 Aviation Business Awards held in Dubai. This award was presented to the carrier in recognition of its contribution to improve livelihoods in rural communities under its 'Charity Cloud Initiative'. Air Arabia was among first companies in the region to have launched a sustainable CSR program with the 'Charity Cloud' project. The initiative was launched in the year 2005 in collaboration with the Sharjah Charity International. In 2012, the airline also introduced its state-of-the-art mobile website, which adds to the convenience of the passengers by providing travel information on-the-go. The new mobile website also facilitates online booking of air tickets at reasonable air fare. A pioneer in using latest technologies, Air Arabia also launched an advanced online check-in for its passengers making air travel more convenient for them.
Established on 3 of February, in the year 2003 as a result of an Amiri decree by Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al-Qasimi, who is the Ruler of Sharjah and also a member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, Air Arabia became the first low cost carrier in the region. With operations commencing on 28 October 2003, the first Air Arabia flight took off from Sharjah to Bahrain International Airport. The airline has stayed profitable from the very first year of being in business. Air Arabia went public in 2007 when it issued 55% of its stock to the public.
