Cheog zostel s food was good but it lacked majorly in hygiene

The location of the property was on main center of cheog and had an apple orchard attached. Food was pretty decent and the host upgraded to higher room on request. But it lacked cleanliness as expected. Could be slightly better maintained.

The property is small, with no open area. The mud house we stayed in had a big glass window behind the bed and curtains could not properly cover it and due to the glass window you could feel the cold on your back. When we checked in, the room still had empty water bottles lying around and we were not provided with anything (water, heater, kettle, glasses. We were not informed that they don't serve lunch, we reached around noon and had nowhere to go to eat. The service wasn't good either. We were not informed about the dinner timings, we had to call them multiple times to know about food and simple basic things. Would not recommend this property at all, i have stayed in almost all of the zostels in the north and this by far is the worst one. Did not hold up to the zostel's standard. Disappointed overall.

Amazing host for the most beautiful property. The view from the room is breathtaking. You'll wake up & sleep to the view that you'll find from sunset point (yes it's that pretty) the rooms got fireplaces so 100% worth it. The host both rite & dilraj are super sweet. And don't worry while coming to the property, the way is different since it's in the secluded place. The property will blow your mind, very warm and cosy.

Honest review with pros and cons. Pros: rustic village feel. They had cows and you can ask for fresh milk in the evening. There are a lot of apple orchids. You can take a morning stroll and 3 dogs will accompany you. You can view himalayas in evening on a clear day. Had only breakfast and it was good. Alloo parantha and bread omlette. They charge 150 per person for bf. View from resort is good. Cons: very hard to reach this property. Almost 3 km inside from main road and need a skilled driver to get there. Road is very narrow and you can get stuck if bus or truck is coming from otherside. There are multiple great options with more beautiful views and nearby main road. Not safe to travel in night. There are no balcony except in family room. There was smell in whole property, probably from cow dung. Room was not super clean and you can find insects. Wood room are very noisy and you hear other people walking talking. Not a good choice instead go for other properties which are on road.

The place is really well built. We were asked for food preference even before checking in. The food was ready when we got there. The place has a nice vibe to it. The caretaker, mr. Arjun, takes care of your needs round the clock. The dairy products are home made. And the food overall is the highlight. Regarding the places to see nearby, we got on a trek after being suggested and given directions for by the caretaker and the owner. It was a really nice trek to tungesh via the forest. There were still a lot to explore. After all this, we could get a nice and warm stay at the room with the fireplace lit. Overall- food-5/5 rooms and hygiene-4. 5/5 location- 4. 5/5

Such a lovely home-stay. Away from city hustle bustle. 5 km off the highway from fagu, in cheog. Serene environment. A quite village in a valley with chili forest on its edge. Family suite is the best on top of the hut with grand view from balcony. Very tastefully made hut with deodar wood. Family suite can accommodate up to six persons. Very spacious. Food was like home cooked. Staff very cooperative. Arjun is an expert hand. Rhododendron welcome drink was a pleasant surprise. Bonfire and barbecue were icing on the cake. Owners, mars rite thakur was very friendly. Don't expect a hotel environment. 5 km approach road is little steep and tight but good. A dream getaway. You can't ask for more

I went there for a weekend with my family. The experience was quite relaxing. It was a beautiful homestay located in the outskirts of the city. My overall experience was great.

This property is located in cheog around 1 hr drive from shimla. There is nothing much to do around this property except for peaceful walks in the woods and orchards around the property. There are no cafe/restaurants near this property. It will be useful if you have your own vehicle to drive to nearby places. Rooms were good with all the essential facilities, however nature's view (atleast in my room) from my room is slightly hindered due to houses in the vicinity. Food was good and freshly prepared based on prior requests. If you enjoy simple home cooked food, you won't be disappointed. Don't expect fancy cuisines. Food is provided at a very reasonable charges. I personally found the food tasty and satisfying. To say in brief, if you want a peaceful location with decent facilities, it is a very good option.

It was my first time in zostel cheog, shimla. Overall experience was very good. I will stay there in future for sure. Amazing food, amazing location, peaceful environment and great ambiance.

The property is located with a view to die for but the property does not have any hygiene standards. Everything from room to bed to bedsheets to upholstery were not clean and very bad. The only relief was the caretaker arjun and the food he made. Otherwise, very bad on hygiene.

So here my favorite memory with this place lies for the food, food was amazing by arjun and there was never a no for any help or service. Rooms were really cozy, hoping to visit soon.

Very nice view, homely food, friendly staff. You will feel comfortable and the interior of the rooms were awesome. You will get a luxury feel.

Place is away from the city, peaceful and good homely food negative they provide room heater only till 11. Bonfire is not placed properly in the balcony which is not effective. Overall it was average stay.

The owner is very friendly and try to accommodate all our requests. Food taste was very good. Since remote location hence food order needs to be placed in advance. Location not preferable for people with walking difficulty.

I stayed at Zostel Homes, Cheog with my 3 friends. We booked two deluxe luxury rooms with fireplace. The view from the rooms was very beautiful. The rooms and washrooms were clean with all the basic amenities. The owners of the property were quite warm. Arjun and his family (caretakers of the property) were very welcoming. The food prepared by them was quite tasty, and they prepared easily whatever we asked them. We had aloo poori, aloo paranthe, rajma chawal, one of their local dish etc. I loved the experience here and would definitely book it again for my further ventures.
