The Counntry House

The location and stay is 10/10, absolutely stunning views from the rooms. The service is good if you stay for a day. If more than a day then they don't do room service daily. Food is 6/10. There are no outside restaurants in Lachung and the hotel is the only place you can have. The options are limited and tastes are very unpredictable. If food and service are not deal breakers, then the stay is highly worth it

The property was a 2 star hotel not a resort of any sort. The rooms were small and most importantly it was understaffed. Only two boys are hired to look after the total functioning of the property. There's a monetary difference of Rs 1500 approximately and we have stayed in both the rooms paying different prizes. Unfortunately there's no visible difference in both the room types. We requested the staff to provide us snacks(for which we were ready to pay) in the evening and it was only 5pm, yet we were bluntly denied by them as they said that their kitchen staffs were busy preparing for dinner. So we had to starve for another 3 hours without food, needless to mention that there are no food corners or stalls in that place. Service was extremely slow.

It was an amazing stay at Country House. Location was perfect. It's on Katao road, but not far off from the town. River flows nearby. As far as the hotel is concerned, we booked the Yumthang cottage. Was pretty cosy. Service is their main suite. Food is amazing and the attention they pay to taste, portion, service is great. Special shout out to Anmol, who manages the property for the owner and was fabulous. Bathroom maybe needs a bit uplifting, else it was a great experience. Definitely recommended.

Out of the world experience. Cannot imagine in such a remote place such property exists. Can beat any 5 star. And at 1/5th of its price

We stayed at the Country House for two nights. We stayed in the Yumthang Cottage valley view room, one of only two rooms with a proper valley view; the others had either a partial view or no valley view at all. The room was clean and spacious, with a small balcony. The hotel is located on a narrow lane. We paid for two nights, including breakfast. However, it was overpriced considering the amenities and service. We were surprised by the breakfast menu. On the first day, they offered chapati and aloo curry, poha, bread and omelet, but no fruits or juices. They had some raw bananas, which we couldn't even peel. We only had omelet and tea before leaving to visit Zero Point. The hotel seemed to be run by inexperienced staff. I spoke to the owner, who stays in Gangtok, to complain about the service. He assured me of a better menu for the next day. However, the next day's breakfast included aloo paratha, aloo curry, poha, boiled eggs, and omelet, but again, no fruits or juices. We only had a piece of paratha and omelet before heading to Gangtok. I must point out that the food we ordered in our room was good and served in good quantity. Please think twice before booking this hotel at a higher price.

Well located and have a good view, having a balcony is plus! rooms are well maintained and have all necessary accessories required for cold weather. Have ample parking space! the only thing i find disappointing is the food, not up to the level as per the charge.

Stay was good but expected more as compared to the price. Location was good. Taste of food was very good but menu was more or less same for everyday. There was not much options for food.

Stunning views from balcony, very courteous staff, superb food and generator facility kept us comfortable all through

A small hotel next to a mountain, river and water falls. It's a beautiful property with limited numbers of rooms. You can see snow peaks and waterfalls from your balcony. The property has a small restaurant and small parking facility. The property is situated on the other side of the river and slightly away from the main market area and has an inverter facility. Staff are helpful.

The rooms are very good and so is the property. Good view as well. Try to get a room on the 1st floor for an even better view. Electricity will be provided though a generator for a limited time in the evening. They have a pretty good bar but it's quite expensive. Food is also good. They'll provide a heater on request.

All the rooms had an amazing view of the mountains. Also the bed heater enhanced the overall experience. However, the only drawback was that the food options were very limited and taste was not very great. Overall a good experience.

The country house is a pretty new property in lachung, which is very tastefully done. The view from the balcony is great, you can see the mighty mountains and waterfalls. Though you can't see the river, you can hear the sound of the water at all times. The best part was that they have bed warmers and hot water 24x7 which is much required in this chilly town. They also have inverter kicking in whenever power cuts which happens frequently in this area. The hosts were caring enough to make hot dal khichdi for us since i fell ill after our ling commute from gurudongmar to lachung. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone staying in lachung.
