Grand Shamba-La Kalpa

One of the best places to stay in Kalpa amidst apple orchards and enchanting view of Kinner Kailash, very polite staff with good food.

The location is good. But a new building of the same group of this hotel which is under construction obstructing partial view from the rooms. We booked kinnaur kailash view rooms yet found that obstruction. The amenities were superb though. The washroom was up to the mark. The beds had electrical blanket. The attic was fabulous, giving breathtaking view of kinnaur kailash and it has a library. There is well decorated meditation hall. In spite of being a great property the biggest disappointment for us was the mismanagement and lack of professionalism from the staff concerned. The property had a bar but nothing was available there including snacks except very basic items though hotel menu showing several items in it. I was told that chef went home due to some emergency and thus aa la carte menus won't be available and we had to take only buffet. I failed to understand that a kitchen of this kind of luxurious property depends only upon a man and there is no proper back up during emergency as alleged. There was no staff present at the library at attic and even at the bar for proper guidance. The owners should look into this seriously as they definitely have invested huge amount in making this property and charging a lot from the boarders. It's painful to see such a wonderful property may loose reputation due to inadequate service. Another important thing, the entrance of the hotel is difficult to find and is narrow.

We took kinnaur kailash view room and all amenities were present. Only negative point, you have to go to the 4th floor by staircase. May not be suitable for elder person.

The hotel welcomes us in a traditional way and served fresh apple juice. Food was very tasty and all kinds of items available. And the best part is the room with kinnaur kailash view. Mind-blowing. All amenities was superb

The property has poor location and no sign boards as well. Food quality was not satisfactory.

We stayed for a single night on both onward and return journey from Kaza. Although we stayed here in transit we thoroughly enjoyed The views, food and services. Highly recommend this place. If you are travelling by your own car do call The hotel before you reach so that they can make parking space for you. Parking lot is slightly smaller in size and is generally filled with their own taxis.

The highlight of this hotel - is the grand view of Himalayas right outside your balcony. The room was so well kept that it was a delight to stay there. Food was amazingly good and service was excellent. It located very close to Peo and easily accessible via road. One of the other highlight is the cosy library located on the top floor of the hotel. They provide some excellent collection of books to spend a lazy after afternoon over coffee. Or enjoy the close up views using the free binoculars provided by the hotel
