It was a good and satisfying experience. Because I was checking in early and had already paid for my room they gave me a bigger room with no extra charge. They have a sun deck on 11th floor which has a great view, I really had no problem there staying. Also they have complementary water for every guest which is quite unlikely to be seen anywhere else.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. It is way overpriced for what you get. Some of the negative points are - very poor selection of toiletries in the room – no do not disturb sign on the door so we were woken early each morning, charges for internet in the rooms - $15 per day! They even charge $2 for toll free class from the guest rooms!! There is a good view from the tower rooms but we were situated beside the high powered lift and it sounded like planes taking off all day and night. In summary it is an average hotel and not paying the money to stay there - there are much better value hotels around the union square area.

The hotel is one of the best hotels I have stayed in and it is very good connectivity to all its near by areas and very friendly staff and good hospitality. When ever I visit CA again I would like to stay in this hotel again. I would recommend this property.

Unlike sheratons, room facilities are extremely poor no minibar, gowns, slippers, glasses, check in staff not at all courteous. Options for food are limited. It becomes extremely crowded in the morning for breakfast.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and i really enjoyed it because the room was really clean and was regularly cleaning everyday. they need to improve their breakfast provided beca ...
We stayed 8 nights at Sir Francis Drake; we chose the hotel largely due to its proximity to Union Square, which was one of the key factors in our hotel selection for our San Francisco trip. It wasn’t our first choice but overall, we had a pleasant stay. What went well for us: 1. Proximity to Union Square (1 min walk away), where the heart of fabulous shopping and main transportation is. 2. Starbucks was just next to the hotel and the 24 hr Walgreens was just opposite. It was very convenient to get our daily supplies of water & coffee/munchies 3. The hotel promotes a sustainable environment (which is aligned to what I believe in) and has practical incentives with the $10 voucher if guests choose to opt out of housekeeping. The voucher can be combined and redeemed for in-room dining or at the hotel’s F&B outlets. 4. The hotel provides complimentary breakfast vouchers, which are only redeemable for 2 types of breakfast. I did not like either choice and the hotel was flexible to allow for the vouchers to be used as $10 vouchers. We combined these vouchers with the $10 vouchers from opting out of housekeeping for a better breakfast of our choice. 5. Even though this is an old hotel, it is well-maintained and evokes a classic, elegant flair. Love the lobby. 6. The hotel is just opposite Sears Fine Food, which has really good food at affordable prices too. What didn’t go well with us: 1. The noise from the busy streets, even in the wee hours of the morning. We got awaken many nights from the sirens from the fire engine/police cars 2. The thin walls of the hotel (we could even hear our neighbours putting up their hangers in the closet!) 3. The really small toilet and small sink area 4. No flask in the room. For hotels which do not provide flasks, there are hot water facilities along the corridor but this hotel does not provide. 5. The paintings on the walls….they sent an eerie vibe so we tried not to look at them. 6. The main hotel entrance is one level below the reception/lobby. There were no signages to lead guests from entrance to the lift lobby, though we managed to figure out on our arrival but we have heard of clueless guests who lugged their luggage up the stairs to the lobby.

Awesome location, near union square, nice eating places, good hospitality. Can do guided tours of san francisco from the hotel itself. I would visit again and would recommend to other people. It was a great experience, hotel staff were very friendly.

The quality of the facilities was inversely proportional to the professionalism of the staffs. The facilities were excellent but the mannerisms of the staffs were appalling. They outright ignore customers and will roll their eyes at the customers. Other than the Director, the manager is not much better....I really find this disturbing. How can a 5-star hotel not train their staffs to meet the minimum standard level of professionalism/courtesy that is necessary for a service based industry?

We stayed here for one night. There is free shuttle service between the Hotel and Airport. The staff members were kind and helpful. Clean, excellent location are other features. Rates are also reasonable. We shall love to stay here again in future. Interior is also very good.

Whilst the location was great, the hotel looked nothing like the pictures online. They claim to have finished their renos: not so: our room had a 1980s bathroom with a shower curtain and brown tiles. The corridor still had tired wallpaper and worn carpet. Very disappointing, as we were expecting a contemporary, stylish stay and what we got was tired, albeit functional. The place was heaving with people: to check in we had to stand in a queue of 6 people and there were always at least 100 bags stacked up chaotically in the lobby. To be fair, it was holiday season. The lifts were very efficient though, and the bar area looked pleasant enough.

The staff in the hotel were very helpful and gave advice about good restaurants etc when requested, it's a really good location also. The rooms are nice and I liked the decor, really comfortable. Would have liked a larger bathtub but that's just nitpicking. Overall a great location and a really pretty hotel.
